Free guided tours in Águilas during September
Saturday October 8, guided tour of the historic town centre of Águilas
Start: Tourist Office at 11.00h.
Duration: approximately 2 hours.
This tour takes participants through the port and Plaza de España and past important monuments and buildings, such as the Ícaro (Carnival monument), Ferrocarril monument, Archaeological Museum and church of San José.

Sunday October 16, Marina de Cope walking tour
Start: the coordinates for the starting point are 37.469325 and -1.499722 at 9.30.
Duration and difficulty: approximately 2 and a half hours; 4.7 kilometres. Low level of difficulty.

This walk takes place in the regional park of Cabo Cope and Puntas del Calnegre, allowing participants to enjoy the natural scenery on offer, as well as walking through nesting areas for different bird species and Roman remains.
Saturday October 22, the Mr Gillman and El Hornillo railways tour
Starts at the Renfe Águilas railway station at 11.00.
Duration: approximately 2 hours.

This tour allows participants to experience the history of the traders and industrialists who played such an important role in the economy of Águilas in the second half of the 19th century and the first 30 years of the 20th, among them Gustavo Gillman. The route includes the Monument to the Railway, the bridge over the Rambla de las Culebras, the Sendero del Hornillo, the museum which has been created in the railway tunnel, the Embarcadero del Hornillo loading jetty and the railway station.

Sunday October 30, guided tour of the castle of San Juan de Águilas
Start: 11.00 at the tourist office
The 18th century castle of San Juan is one of the most visible and important monuments of Águilas, offering both an insight into the town’s history and fabulous views over the town itself and the Mediterranean.

Saturday October 22: The first evening of the 18th annual Paco Rabal amateur dramatics festival, which lasts until November 26.
Friday October 28: The Region of Murcia Symphony Orchestra perform works by Beethoven, Débussy and Stravinsky in the second event of the ProMúsica 2022-23 cycle. Admission for this event only 25 euros. For further information click here.

October 7 to 30: The annual autumn salon gives local artists from and/or living in Águilas a chance to exhibit their works. The exhibition can be visited every day of the week except Mondays from 18.00 to 21.00,

Throughout October the exhibition "Fuera del Eden" features works by Manuel Páez in the Sala de Exposiciones Manuel Coronado. Click here for further details.
October 2: Piano and violin recital by violinist Rezart Kapetani and pianist José Vicente Riquelme. On the programme are pieces by Chopin, Sarasate, Falla, Saint-Saëns, Brahms, Rachmaninoff and Tchaikovsky. Until October 8, Vamos Simbiosis. This international project aims to forge a connection with the sea through art and science as 50 artists and scientists collaborate to work on the marine environment in the Mediterranean. Among them is choreographer Daniela Mühlbauer of the National Theatre of Vienna and local are welcome to participate when she performs on October 6. Register here.

Águilas boasts 28 kilometres of coastline, with many fine, sandy beaches, sheltered coves and unspoilt natural beaches. It is a great summer favourite with Spanish holidaymakers, so always has a superb programme of concerts and activities throughout the summer, as well as the biggest carnival in the Region of Murcia, 40 days before Semana Santa (Easter.)
Throughout the year it also has a number of museums and historical attractions, a castle with fabulous views overlooking the bay and several other points of interest, all of which make it an good place to visit for days out. Throughout the year the tourist office runs monthly guided tours and the route of the railways, which explores the railway history of the town.
The tourist information office is located in the Plaza de Antonio Cortijos, just a short walk from the sea front and Plaza de España, a cool, shaded space in which to enjoy a coffee.
