The Women’s Association of Hacienda del Alamo has been set up for all the ladies who live, own, work or who are associated with Hacienda del Alamo Golf Resort. Our aim is for ladies to meet each other and do activities, or go on trips together. There have been a vast number of interests that the ladies are interested in, so we will try and arrange to do as many of them as possible.

We are an official Association, having registered with the Head Office of the Asociacion de Mujeres, in Murcia.
We have around 270 ladies who have joined our group, mainly English, and of course Spanish, but many other nationalities, ranging from Scottish, Irish, Welsh, French, Belgian, German, Dutch, to Norwegian, Russian, Canadian, South African, Brazilian, Filipino, Hungarian, Serbian, Romanian, Danish, Argentinian, Columbian Ukranian,
Kazakhstan, Dominican Republic, Latvia and Thai.

We meet at the Golf Club house Café, every Wednesday at 10.00 am. If there are enough ladies, we will go for a walk, unless we have organized some other event. Otherwise we will just have a coffee and a natter.
The motto of our Asociacion is “We are here for you”.

Have a look at the list of Activities we have organised for the next few months and if you are interested in joining us with any of them, or, if you wish to join our Asociacion, then please contact us.

Most of the ideas for the outings we have planned, we found on the Murcia Today website. It is a really interesting and informative website.

We decided to have a Street Party at the Academy on Sunday 12th June, which was the same day that England were having Street Parties all over the country to celebrate Queen Elizabeth's 90th Birthday.

It was suggested we had a Hog Roast as something different, and we eventually decided on using 'The Pig Roast' company, owned by Ant and Ros. To keep the cost down, we asked our ladies to bring a dessert or cake for afterwards. We informed Ant and Ros that there would probably be around 100 people. In fact we had a magnificent 121 people! We could have sold even more tickets, but because we had to let Ant know one week before, how many were coming so that he would know what size pig to order, we had to close the list early.

The Town Hall of Fuente Alamo loaned us some Marquees to shade us from the sun, tables and chairs and the Club House opened the bar. All the ladies and even some men who came on their own, brought a dessert or a cake and we had a fabulous selection.

We decorated the Academy in the morning whilst the pig was being cooked over the spit, the smell was intoxicating. In fact, Ant and Ros had been there since about 05.00hrs, as the pig obviously takes a long time to cook, so, it had been cooking for a good while, by the time we arrived to decorate!

There was a Texas Scamble golf competition in the morning, with eleven teams of four taking part. Most of the players were then coming on to the party.

The music was provided by Danny Lewis, one of our golf members, on a playlist, so many thanks to him for doing that for us. He just left it going all afternoon and it was wonderful  60's, 70's and 80's music, which the majority of us remembered and were able to sing along to! There was also some dancing by a few energetic people, mainly ladies though.

We had a fantastic afternoon and from what we can gather, everyone really enjoyed themselves. The food was delicious, along with the hog roast, there were roast potatoes, stuffing, salad, coleslaw, rolls and a vegetable lasagne, for the vegetarians amongst us. We must therefore thank 'The Pig Roast' for the food they provided. There was plenty of food and some were going up for seconds. Then of course there were the desserts, we were certainly spoilt for choice there, and they all went down very well!

By the end of the afternoon, there was no-one left in the marquees, they had either gone home or had gone to the bar area. That made it easier for us, so that we could then take the decorations down.

Thank you to everyone who came and supported us on Sunday, you all helped to make it the success it was. We couldn't have done it without you all. There were a lot of new faces too, who had not been to one of our parties before, so we hope you all enjoyed yourselves and if you did, perhaps you will join us on something else.
