Although the carnival peñas of Lorca are holding a number of other events surrounding the main carnival parades, for most visitors to the city the main parade itself is the most inclusive element of the celebrations, and tends to be the event most enjoyed by non-participating visitors.
Saturday 15th February
19:00 In the Teatro Guerra. Official presentation of the three key figures in the Lorca 2019 Carnival: the Queen, Musa and Momo.
Saturday 22nd February
18:00 The grand Carnaval/carnival parade featuring around 20 comparsas and more than 1500 people will depart from San José, following a route via calles (streets) Pérez Casas, Nogalte, Cuesta de San Francisco, Príncipe Alfonso, Óvalo and the Avenida Juan Carlos I, concluding in the Palacete del Huerto Ruano.
Sunday 23rd February
12:00 The children’s carnaval parade leaves the district of San José at 12.00, following a route via calle Nogalte, calle Corredera, calle Álamo and concluding in the Plaza de España, where a big children’s party is being held afterwards.
Post- Carnival:February 29th: 19:00 in the Teatro Guerra, first part of the representation by the comparsas (dance groups) and chirigotas.
Sunday 1st March: 18:00 in the Teatro Guerra the second part of the representations by the comparsas (dance groups) and chirigotas.
