Benidorm, Alicante and Valencia offer the best budget beach breaks according to experts at Bounce travel app
The cost of living crisis has seen household priorities shift drastically and, coupled with warnings of flight price hikes, a long-awaited break on a beach overseas has been placed firmly on the back burner for many.
However, new research carried out by experts at Bounce, a travel and entertainment app, has revealed the cheapest beach destinations in Europe, and three of those hotspots are on the Costa Blanca.
Not surprisingly, Benidorm tops the list with a pint costing as little as 2.50 euros and the average price of a hotel in August around 135 euros per night. In addition to stunning beaches, 1,000-plus bars, large expat community and heady heat, holidaymakers can dine out for around 12 euros per person.
The resort's Balcon del Mediterraneo is Benidorm’s top-rated attraction on Tripadvisor offering visitors spectacular views of the resort and Mediterranean.
One Benidorm-loving tourist ‘spisw’ wrote on Tripadvisor: “Stunning views from here, both of the new and the old town. Really nice coffee shops and bars for a snack.”
The other contenders for the 'budget-break badge' are as follows:
In second place is Valencia, famous for the City of Arts and Sciences, the Old Town, Valencia Cathedral and being the birthplace of paella. The region's capital is also popular for its museums, quirky festivals, beautiful climate and sandy beaches. Regular bar and restaurant prices are surprisingly similar to those in Benidorm, although a hotel may cost around 15 euros more per night during high season.
Alicante hits the list in 7th place. One of the city's great attractions is among a wealth of other things, its climate. It has hot summers, tempered by sea breezes, mild winters and warm autumns and springs. The city is brimming with heritage spanning thousands of years. And then there are the incredible sprawling beaches, lively nightlife, great restaurant scene, Santa Barbara Castle, medieval architecture.
