There will also be more rain in Murcia on Thursday and Friday
Let’s be honest, a large part of the reason that most of us moved to spend our time in this little corner of paradise is to get away from the miserable weather where we came from. And, while the heat and lack of water for so much of the year have their drawbacks, we can’t help but feel vindicated in our decision to live here when the temperatures in October get up into the mid-30s.
That’s the case this week, according to the forecast from the Spanish State Meteorological Agency (Aemet), who predict a dry start to the week with cloudy skies and rising temperatures as we move into the new month of October.
They also forecast “morning mists” and “light variable winds, tending to westerly in the afternoon”, with moderate intervals on the coast at the end of the day on Tuesday October 1.
It is on Wednesday 2 when the centre of the Region of Murcia, around Murcia city and Cieza – frequently the warmest part of the Region – can expect the temperature to reach up to 35ºC. On the south coast it will be more like 29-31ºC, while the Mar Menor area and the inland north could get up to 33-34ºC.
Despite this, Aemet forecasts “fairly cloudy skies, tending to cloudy at the end of the day, with occasional light rainfall in the north of the region in the evening”.

Thursday October 3 brings a drop in both minimum and maximum temperatures of two or three degrees, along with widespread rainfall that will cover pretty much the whole Region for most of the day. However, it will not be heavy rainfall, but rather gentle showers like we have had for the last couple of weeks – just the kind we need after a dry summer.

The rain continues into Friday morning, October 4, but beats a retreat for the weekend, leaving more sunny and slightly cloudy skies and temperatures that don’t quite reach up to 30ºC, so it will feel cooler in comparison with earlier in the week.
