A wet start to the week before the sun returns: Alicante weather April 13-16

A damp, cloudy and windy start before the sun comes back and the temperatures begin to climb again

It's a bit of a mixed start to the week in Alicante, with rain around on Monday morning, but things improve quickly. According to Spain's State Meteorological Agency (Aemet), conditions settle down from Tuesday onwards, with plenty of sunshine and temperatures on the rise again.

Monday April 13

Monday starts off cloudy, with Aemet predicting "moderate rainfall", locally heavy in inland areas and along the southern coast, during the morning, especially in the southern half of the province. Conditions will improve in the afternoon, and the skies will be mostly clear. Minimum temperatures will drop slightly, while maximums will rise a little inland but remain steady along the coast. Winds will be moderate from the northwest, turning southeast later in the day.

Tuesday April 14

By Tuesday, things will settle down, with Aemet forecasting "mostly clear skies" across the province. Minimum temperatures will see little change, while daytime highs will edge up slightly inland. Winds will be light to moderate from the northwest, becoming easterly or southeasterly along the coast later in the day.

Wednesday April 15

Wednesday stays much the same, with mostly clear or clear skies, according to Aemet. Temperatures will vary a little depending on the area, with a slight dip overnight along the coast, but temperatures will rise inland. Winds remain light, with a typical afternoon sea breeze along the coast.

Thursday April 16

By Thursday, the weather should be back to normal. Expect clear skies again and the temperatures will edge up even more, making it feel much warmer during the day. Winds will stay light and variable, turning easterly after lunch.

So after a grey and cloudy weekend, the spring-like weather is on the way back in Alicante. With plenty of sunshine and milder temperatures, it's time to get out to clean patios, cars and windows to get rid of the remnants of the muddy Calima rain.

• Tuesday April 14: Min 7ºC, Max 22ºC
• Wednesday April 15: Min 9ºC, Max 25ºC
