A windy but brighter few days ahead: Alicante weekend weather February 12-15

Temperatures are expected to drop over the weekend, and there will be strong winds at times, but plenty of bright spells too

The next few days in Alicante will feel chilly again, and the wind will pick up at times. The good news is there will be some bright sunny spells along the way. While it's not time to pack away the winter coats, it won’t be all grey skies either as we head into Valentine’s and Carnival weekend.

Thursday February 12

It will be mostly bright and sunny but with a fresher feel to the day as temperatures start to drop. The westerly wind will pick up again but it will ease off later in the day.

Friday February 13

Friday the 13th sees the cloud return and the day will be greyer overall, unfortunately. Some light rain is possible but mostly inland. Temperatures dip again, so it will feel a bit colder than earlier in the week. The wind continues from the west and will feel pretty strong at times, especially in more exposed areas.

Saturday February 14 – Valentine’s Day

Saturday will stay on the cool side with a mix of cloud along with some brighter moments. A few light showers can’t be ruled out inland and it will be cold enough for some snow on higher ground well away from the coast. Winds turn more northwesterly and will be quite strong across much of the province, so it may feel colder than the thermometer suggests. If you’re heading out for Valentine’s plans or Carnaval celebrations, it’s worth keeping that in mind.

Sunday February 15

Sunday sees a bit of an improvement and it should be bright and sunny for most of the day. Although it will still feel cooler, especially early on. The wind will still be around, but it won’t be as strong compared to Saturday, particularly as the day goes on.

Even though there are still some weather alerts in place for wind, there is a glimmer of Spring in the air. The sun will be making more of an appearance with clear skies, perfect for enjoying Carnival parades or a romantic stroll for Valentine’s Day! Do layer up as it will feel chilly at times and take care with the wind, especially in exposed areas.

• Friday February 13: Min 8ºC; Max 21ºC
• Saturday February 14: Min 5ºC; Max 20ºC
• Sunday February 15: Min 5ºC; Max 21ºC

Weather alerts

Low-level wind alerts are in place across parts of Alicante Province this week, on Thursday, when westerly winds could reach around 70 to 80 km/h along the north coast, south coast and inland areas. At the same time, coastal areas may also see rougher conditions overnight into Thursday with west to south-west winds of 50 to 60 km/h and waves of 2 to 3 metres. Friday currently has no official alerts in force. Still, they return on Saturday, covering the whole province from midnight to midnight, with winds again possibly reaching up to 80 km/h in exposed spots and choppier seas along the north coast with waves of up to 3 metres, so it is worth keeping an eye on updates if you plan to be outdoors or near the water.
