Alicante continues to cook in sky-high temperatures: Weather forecast Aug 5-11
ARCHIVED ARTICLE -
A yellow advisory for temperatures of 36 degrees has been issued in parts of Alicante province
Weather alert on Tuesday August 6
There’s to be little let up in the heat in Alicante this week and the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has issued a yellow warning for high temperatures that will affect the northern coast of the province on Monday August 5, which will continue well into the next day.
During the beginning of the week, highs will reach 36ºC inland, and it will be especially sweltering in the Marina Alta and Comtat areas.
But Monday will be very hot everywhere during a largely cloudless day, although a southeasterly breeze should provide a little relief in the late afternoon.
The yellow heat alert will come back into play for northern Alicante from 1pm on Tuesday August 6, but temperatures will rise by a degree or two across the board. Light variable winds will again grow in strength towards the end of another sunny day.
There’s a very slight chance of rain in the north of Alicante on Wednesday August 7 as the skies will be a lot more cloudy and overcast from midday. The rest of the province should be mostly clear and bright with few changes expected to the temperatures.
Thursday August 8 will begin quite overcast inland but this should clear early on. Thunderstorms are forecast in Castellón and Valencia, but the rain is unlikely to spread further south to Alicante. Day and night-time temperatures will remain largely unchanged.
Temperatures will shoot up on Friday August 9, especially inland, on another mostly cloudless day, reaching a sweltering 37ºC in places like Alcoy.
Looking ahead to the weekend, Saturday August 10 and Sunday August 11 promise to be sunny, bright and warm, with maximum temperatures unlikely to dip far below the high 30s across the board.
