The Seville fairgrounds will play host to hundreds of stalls, food and drinks tents, live music and more during the last week of April
The first major celebration of the year, Holy Week, is now behind us and Seville is already turning its attention to the next big event – the April Fair. This year, the famous Feria de Abril festivities will begin at midnight on Sunday April 23 and run until 12am on Sunday April 29, when the festival will be brought to a close with a spectacular fireworks display.
This world-famous Andalucían fair is bookended by a series of bullfights in Seville’s Meastranza bullring, which brings together some of the best performers in the country. These events begin as early as April 9 and will take place until the beginning of May.
For everyone else, the long-awaited April Fair is a party like no other; throughout the celebrations, the iconic fairgrounds will remain open, playing host to a huge range of food and drink booths, live music concerts, stalls and attractions for all the family.
What to do during the April Fair
The festivities will centre around the fairgrounds, which are located in the Remedios neighbourhood and will remain open from midnight on April 23, when the official inauguration will take place.
Here, the various booths and stalls will be situated and while the opening times vary, most of the public-run establishments will open between 12 noon and 3am.
The celebrations are usually split into three different categories: the day fair in the afternoon is packed full of open stalls and features horse and carriage rides, so it’s ideal for families with young children; the afternoon fair begins at 7pm and at 9pm the night fair kicks into high gear.
This year, there are more than a thousand booths scattered through the 275,000-square-metre fairgrounds where visitors can enjoy terrific live music and a festive atmosphere while sampling some of the best food and beverages the Andalucían capital has to offer.
