More than 50 stalls, traditional crafts, live music and fun activities for all ages in the heart of Alicante
The charming streets of Finestrat, a picturesque town located in the Marina Baixa region of Alicante, will once again come alive with colour and culture as the ninth edition of the Gastronomic and Traditional Market takes place on Friday April 26 and Saturday April 27. Organised by Finestrat Town Council and the local company Íbero, in collaboration with the Finestrat Women's Association and El Balconet Festival Commission, this year’s event offers something for everyone.
Visitors can explore over 50 craft stalls featuring handmade textiles, pottery, and traditional tools, as well as local produce. But it’s not just about shopping; this market is a unique opportunity to step back in time and see ancient trades in action. Watch as wool is transformed from fleece to sock, or see blacksmiths work their magic with fire and hammer. For food lovers, there will be live cooking demonstrations of traditional dishes like "arròs amb fesols i naps" (a delicious rice dish with potatoes and turnips), and the Muixeranga of Alicante will showcase their incredible human towers.
There’s plenty for families too, with a range of activities for children, including face painting, a mini-disco, storytelling sessions, and a petting farm. The market stretches throughout the town’s picturesque streets, making it the perfect day out for all ages.
To make getting to the event easier, free buses will run from La Cala to the historic centre, with departures at 9.45am and 4pm, and return journeys from the market at 2pm and 9.30pm. There will also be a shuttle service from the main parking lot near La Foia sports centre, running from 11am to 1.30pm and again from 5pm to 9pm.
Finestrat’s Councillor for Markets, Donna Rebecca Plummer, has invited locals and visitors alike to enjoy the weekend. "We encourage everyone to come and explore the charm of our historic centre while enjoying the artisan products and exciting activities we’ve planned for the weekend," she said.
Don’t miss out on this chance to experience Finestrat’s rich traditions, lively atmosphere, and delicious food on April 26 and 27.
