ARCHIVED - 25 June Scorpions Whitesnake and Europe at Rock Imperium in Cartagena
Cartagena rocks to the sound of some of the greatest metal bands in the history of music
Tickets are still available for the highlight of the Rock Imperium festival at the Parque El Batel in Cartagena, with the bill on Saturday June 25 topped by rock legends Scorpions. Whitesnake and Europe.
This is the only concert scheduled by Scorpions in Spain this year, and the crowd is expected to reach 20,000 as Cartagena welcomes one of the giants of European rock in recent decades. Tickets are available only on the door after online sales were collapsed by the strength of demand.
Other acts on the bill include Saurom, Pain of Salvation, Doro, Jorn, 91 Suite, Blaze Bayley, Opera Magna, Celtian, Scarecrow Avenue, Aversio Humanitatis, Eternal Storm, Silver Dust, Manticora, Dry River, Belphegor, At the gates, Eric Martin & Oliver Hartmann, The Dust Coda and the Heavy Metal Brothers.
Scorpions are set to take to the stage at 22.05, continuing to prolong the legacy which began when they were formed in 1965 by Rudolf Schenker, later to be joined by Klaus Meine. They will be performing a selection of their greatest hits including Still Loving You, Rock You Like A Hurricane, The Zoo and Wind Of Change.
Whitesnake are another band surely nearing the end of their long career, having been formed in 1978 by legendary Deep Purple vocalist David Coverdale and achieved worldwide hits with Here I Go Again, Is This Love and Still of the Night.
Europe take the stage at 19.05, with Joey Tempest and his colleagues performing rock hymns such as The Final Countdown, Carrie and Rock the Night.
Tickets for the evening are priced at 95 euros.

Where to find basic tourism information and information about historical sites and places to visit in Cartagena, Spain.
Cartagena has a wealth of historical sites, including the Roman Theatre Museum, Archaeological Museum, ARQUA Subaquatic Archaeology Museum, Panoramic lift, Civil War Air raid Shelter and Military and Naval Museums, as well as Tourist Bus and Tourist Boat which ferries visitors across to the Fuerte de Navidad.
There is one main Tourist Information Office and 2 tourist information points, the main one being in the Muralla Púnica Interpretation centre in Calle de san Diego and the other next to the Civil War Air Raid Shelter and Panoramic lift.
The office in the Plaza del Ayuntamiento is the easiest place to pick up a map if you've come into the port from a cruise ship, and has a few basic leaflets, but not a lot else.
The information point for the Puerto de Culturas attractions is by the Panoramic lift and Civil War Air Raid shelter in Calle Gisbert, although maps and leaflets are available at any of 3 information points.
There is plenty of in depth information about Cartagena in the dedicated Cartagena section, accessed via the map box at the bottom of every article page or by using the town search box at the top of the page. the introduction gives basic information about the city and then readers can select from the subjects below for information about the city, or the rest of the municipality.
