See everything going on at the Mazarrón Carnival 2023 over the next two weeks
The 2023 Carnival in Mazarrón begins on Saturday February 11 and there are events taking place every weekend and throughout the week until Sunday February 26.
Here is the programme of events that you can go and see and take part in for the 2023 Carnival celebrations in Mazarrón:
Saturday February 11
- 9.30pm: Cena de Convivencia dinner at the Salones Zaira in Bolnuevo for all the groups (or peñas) taking part in the Carnival parades. The Muses of this year’s Carnival will be named and a prize will be awarded for the best group costume.
Thursday February 16
- 5pm: Inauguration of the fairground attractions by the Children’s Muses at the old Guardia Civil HQ on Avenida de la Constitución. The fairground rides will be open until late every day until Sunday February 26, except for the times when the Carnival Parades are passing by the area.
Friday February 17
- 10pm: Gala to choose the winning Carnival Muses for this year at the La Aceña Sports Pavilion.
- 11.30pm: Late-night party and disco with music by local DJs at the La Aceña Sports Pavilion.
Saturday February 18
- 11.30am: Pets Carnival and children’s workshops organised by the Council for Animal and Youth Welfare at the municipal marquee set up in the Plaza del Ayuntamiento.
- 4pm: Local DJs playing until late at the municipal marquee in the Plaza del Ayuntamiento.
- 5pm: Children’s parade leaving from the old Guardia Civil HQ on Avenida de la Constitución and finishing at the municipal marquee in the Plaza del Ayuntamiento. After the parade, prizes will be handed out at the La Aceña Sports Pavilion.
Sunday February 19
- 11am: Facepainting, Venetian Mask making and bouncy castles for the kids at the Puerto Deportivo in Puerto de Mazarrón.
- 4pm: Local DJs playing at the municipal marquee on the Avenida de la Constitución.
- 4pm: Adult parade leaving from the old Guardia Civil HQ on Avenida de la Constitución and finishing at the municipal marquee on the Avenida de la Constitución. After the parade, prizes will be handed out at the La Aceña Sports Pavilion.
Monday February 20
- 9pm: Carnival Migas competition, with a prize for the winner and gifts handed out to the rest of the participants. A dish of migas will be handed out to anyone who goes along and wants to try at the Plaza del Ayuntamiento.
- 9.30pm: “Pedro el Flamenquito” and local DJs playing at the municipal marquee in the Plaza del Ayuntamiento.
- 10.30pm: Best Individual and Group Costume Contest at the municipal marquee in the Plaza del Ayuntamiento.
Tuesday February 21
- 5pm: Children’s activities and bouncy castles at the municipal marquee in the Plaza del Ayuntamiento, with the collaboration of Zoe Socio-educativo.
- 9pm: “Zona Azul” Orchestra playing at the municipal marquee in the Plaza del Ayuntamiento.
- 11pm: Traditional burning of “Don Carnal” by the Muses at the Plaza del Ayuntamiento. Spectators are asked to wear black.
Thursday February 23
- 5pm: Feria 2x1 at the old Guardia Civil HQ on Avenida de la Constitución.
Saturday February 25
- 5pm: ‘Tardeo de Carnaval’ party with live music from local artists Los de la Juana and local DJs at the municipal marquee in the Plaza del Ayuntamiento.
- 10pm: Live concert by David Andreu, Individual and Group Costume Contest and more music from local DJs at the municipal marquee in the Plaza del Ayuntamiento.
Sunday February 26
- 4pm: Local DJs playing again at the municipal marquee in the Plaza del Ayuntamiento.
- 5pm: Carnival Parade of Foreign Peñas groups leaving from the old Guardia Civil HQ on Avenida de la Constitución and finishing at the municipal marquee on the Avenida de la Constitución, where prizes will be handed out.
