British tourist critically injured after fall from third floor in Mallorca

A British tourist is currently battling for his life after plummeting from the third floor of a building in the Mallorca resort of Magaluf. According to local reports, the 25-year-old man sustained severe facial and head injuries and is in critical condition at Son Espases Hospital in Palma.

Initial findings suggest that the holidaymaker, who was under the influence of alcohol during the incident, might have attempted to leap over a dividing wall while navigating his way back to his hotel after a night of clubbing. Investigators are trying to establish if the victim lost his footing while scaling the high perimeter fence, or if he was actually inside the hotel complex when the accident occurred.

Emergency responders received a call from a local resident shortly after 6am on April 6 reporting that she had found a heavily bleeding man lying on the ground outside the María Elena apartment block on Calle Federico García Lorca. Despite the severity of his injuries, the man remained conscious on his journey to hospital.

Several other locals claim to have alerted officials about the compromised fencing approximately a year ago; however, only a temporary blue plastic barrier had been installed. Concerns have continued to escalate due to the number of holidaymakers accessing this route following a trip to the nearby pubs and nightclubs.

This particular apartment complex bears a harrowing past, as it was the location where Danielle Finlay, a 23-year-old UK bar worker, tragically ended her life nearly four years ago. In May 2020, the young woman’s friend found her body beside a suicide note just days before her 24th birthday.

After booking spa treatments with her mum to celebrate, Ms Finlay sadly hanged herself in her hotel room.

The authorities have yet to officially confirm the nationality of the latest victim; nonetheless, initial sources refer to him as a British citizen. Investigations are ongoing to establish the full details surrounding the circumstances leading up to the incident.
