Delight your taste buds with 1001 Delicias de Lorca this May and June
ARCHIVED ARTICLE -
Every Thursday night, indulge in tasting menus prepared by the best chefs in Lorca and the Region of Murcia
From May 9 until June 27, join the ‘1001 Delicias de Lorca’ gastronomical journey taking place every Thursday evening from 9pm in selected restaurants across Lorca.
Organised by Hostelor, together with the Association of Head Chefs and Chefs of the Region of Murcia (JECOMUR), and supported by the Tourism Institute of Murcia and Lorca City Council, esteemed chefs from Lorca and the wider Murcia region have collaborated to craft mouthwatering tasting menus featuring regional delicacies.
Each dinner showcases authentic dishes incorporating premium ingredients such as Murcian paprika, Calasparra rice, locally grown produce, fine meats, award-winning cheeses and exceptional drinks from the Bodegas Contreras winery and Estrella de Levante brewery.
Participating restaurants will offer these gourmet experiences at competitive rates, not exceeding 50 euros per person including drinks. Chefs will personally introduce each dish, enhancing your dining experience. The initiative is what’s known as a ‘four hand menu’, which means that you’ll have not one but two expert cooks preparing your meal.
Seats are in high demand though so booking is essential – contact your restaurant of choice to secure a table.
Experience the flavours of Lorca with menus changing weekly at the following venues:
- May 9: Restaurante La Alameda with 'Estirpe' by Yecla (chef Juan Azorín)
- May 16: Axo Restaurante with 'De Loreto by Jumilla (Irene López)
- May 23: Bangalore Lorca with 'El Albero' in Ceutí (Tomás Écija)
- May 30: Restaurante Mirrin with 'Tandem' (Pedro Buitrago)
- June 6: Restaurante La Alacena with 'El Churra' in Murcia (Juan Antonio García)
- June 13: Taberna La Cepa with 'Borrego' from Bullas (Salvador Fernández)
- June 20: Casa Roberto with Taúlla from Espinardo-Murcia (Rodi Fernández)
- June 27: Asador Murciano de La Paca with Grupo Casa Tomás from Cartagena (Cayetano Gómez).
Councillor for Hospitality, Mayte Martínez, has congratulated Hostelor and the participating restaurants for carrying out this pioneering initiative in Lorca.
“After the gastronomic days organised by this association during the year in which they highlight the typical products of our land, now, for the first time in Lorca, we will have the privilege of enjoying menus prepared by the most prestigious chefs in the Region of Murcia thanks to ‘1001 Delicias de Lorca’, which I am sure will be a great step for local gastronomy and will place Lorca on the culinary map of the Region.”
