ARCHIVED - Dipping temperatures with a chance of scattered showers: Murcia weather Apr 3-6
ARCHIVED ARTICLE -
Easter week in the Region of Murcia will be noticeably cooler than in recent days
The Region of Murcia has recorded some of the highest temperatures in Spain over the past week or so, with the mercury hitting the low to mid 30s in some inland areas. And while Semana Santa, or Holy Week, looks set to be mostly bright and pleasant, the thermometers will return to normal spring values and some scattered showers can’t be ruled out later in the week.
Holy Monday, April 3, will get off to a rather cloudy start although this will clear towards the afternoon, giving way to plenty of sunny spells. There will be a noticeable dip in temperature with the exception of the north of the region, where the mercury should still hit the mid 20s. Northerly winds will switch to the east component later in the day, increasing in strength in the evening.
Minimum and maximum temperatures on Monday
Caravaca de la Cruz: minimum 4ºC; maximum 23ºC
Cartagena: 15ºC; 20ºC
Lorca: 10ºC; 24ºC
Murcia: 12ºC; 22ºC
Yecla: 8ºC; 20ºC
There’s a small chance of some weak and scattered showers inland on Tuesday April 4 although for the most part the day promises to be clear with some cloudy intervals. The mercury will continue to fall, dropping to between 17ºC and 21ºC, while the evening will feel much cooler than in previous days. Light winds from the east will gather strength in the afternoon.
Minimum and maximum temperatures on Tuesday
Caravaca de la Cruz: minimum 5ºC; maximum 21ºC
Cartagena: 12ºC; 18ºC
Lorca: 8ºC; 20ºC
Murcia: 8ºC; 20ºC
Yecla: 4ºC; 17ºC
Wednesday April 5 will begin overcast but the south of the Region will be bright and sunny in the afternoon. There is a strong possibility that some light rain will fall in coastal areas early in the day and morning mists are likely inland. Little change to the temperatures is expected although a strong easterly breeze could make it feel a bit chillier along the coast.
Minimum and maximum temperatures on Wednesday
Caravaca de la Cruz: minimum 5ºC; maximum 19ºC
Cartagena: 13ºC; 19ºC
Lorca: 8ºC; 19ºC
Murcia: 9ºC; 21ºC
Yecla: 2ºC; 18ºC
Once again there’s a chance of some light and scattered showers early on Thursday morning, April 6, but the day will be largely clear with intervals of high clouds. The thermometers won’t show much change, perhaps climbing by a degree or two at the height of the day and strong coastal gusts in the morning will subside in the afternoon.
