A young man was shot dead in Malaga this Halloween, the third shooting in the Costa del Sol province in a fortnight
Halloween night took a terrifying turn in Spain after three people died and dozens of people were arrested for assault, robbery and other offences.
A 28-year-old was shot three times with police arresting the victim's 21-year-old cousin, and in the Seville town of Palomares del Río, police are investigating the death of a young man who was fatally stabbed. Meanwhile, in Tarragona a young man died of "serious injuries" outside a nightclub.
The first horror incident happened on Monday evening, October 31 when several residents in the La Corta neighbourhood of Malaga city alerted emergency services to several gunshots being fired. Witnesses claim there had been a fight, and during the brawl, someone had been shot.
The National and Local Police arrived at the scene and found the victim in a critical condition on the ground. Medical staff plugged several wounds, one of them to the head and two more to the torso and arm. He was rushed to hospital but died shortly afterwards.
At around 4.25am on Tuesday November 1, police were alerted to a young man seriously injured in the street near a nightclub in Salou, Tarragona. Paramedics were unable to save his life.
In a statement, Catalonian police Mossos d'Esquadra confirmed they had launched a murder inquiry to "clarify the circumstances of the victim's death and identify the perpetrator", although no further details have been revealed.
A third man lost his life in Palomares del Río, Seville, after being fatally stabbed. Emergencias 112 de Andalucía received a call reporting a seriously wounded man on the pavement. He succumbed to his injuries around 7am and an investigation is underway.
In a night of violence and crime, 42 people were arrested in Valencia and Seville alone. They were detained for crimes of robbery with violence, carrying weapons, making threats, criminal damage, gender violence, road traffic offences, receiving stolen goods, and theft.
At least 10 people were injured in brawls in the two cities and a couple of those required hospital treatment. During the arrests, police confiscated several weapons, including knives and machetes.
