The tender process for the contract to draft projects for 4 major municipal asphalting projects reaches the selection point
Even though the municipal election on May 28 has left Mazarrón Council in a state of temporary limbo, tendering processes continue to move forward and more details emerged on May 31 of the proposed works planned for the dual carriageway running through Sectors C and D of Camposol.
The proposed work is part of a 25-item, 10-million-euro urban renewal and improvement plan approved by Mazarrón Council and the drafting of the Camposol project was one of four put out to tender a while ago. These four are as follows:
Lot 1: Drafting of the adaptation project of the calles Mar Báltico, Mar Cantábrico, Mar de Mármara, Mar Adriático and Mar de Filipinas in urbanisation Bahía, Puerto de Mazarrón;
Lot 2: Drafting of the street adaptation project Río Mundo and Río Taibilla in urbanisation Bahía, Puerto de Mazarrón;
Lot 3: Drafting of the draft adaptation of Calles Trafalgar and Depósito in the San Isidro district of Puerto de Mazarron;
Lot 4: Drafting of the adaptation project for Avenida de los Covachos in Camposol.
Soon after the projects were put out to tender they were the subject of a legal challenge by opposition parties involving the College of Technical Engineers of Public Works but this challenge was eventually found to have no grounds and denied. Nonetheless it resulted in a significant delay before the contract was put out to tender again, attracting bids from a multitude of civil engineering companies.
The company selected to draft the Camposol project is “EM4 Servicios de Ingeniería, S.L.P”, a Murcia-based concern who submitted a tender for the amount of €9,115.78 plus €1,914.31 IVA, a total of €11,030.09. The drafting contract will have a timeframe of 4 months and once the project is complete the resulting plan will be the blueprint for the tendering process to award the contract for the asphalting work.
At a recent meeting between the Mazarrón Mayor, Gaspar Miras, and Camposol gardening groups concerns were raised about the bank of the rambla (riverbed) between sectors B & C being eroded along the west side and nearing the road between the bridge and dual carriageway. Sr MIras confirmed that the council was aware of the problem and that the land was owned and controlled by the Confederación Hidrográfica del Segura (CHS).
He added that in the last few months technicians from the CHS and Mazarrón Council had been drawing up drainage plans to be integrated into the proposed contract for the asphalting of Avenida de los Covachos, the project for the drafting of which has recently been awarded. In the longer term, he pointed out that the CHS, Mazarrón council and th regional government were in talks regarding the construction of a new bridge linking the dual carriageways on Sectors B and C, which would eliminate the problems caused by the eroding riverbank.
