At a glitzy launch event attended by prominent local officials and industry leaders, easyJet's CEO, Javier Gándara, expressed his excitement about the new base.
"We're thrilled to bring easyJet's signature low-cost, high-quality service to Alicante, one of the most popular destinations for our passengers," he said.
"This new base represents a significant investment in the region and demonstrates our commitment to providing affordable and convenient air travel to even more customers."
Passengers will now have 22 fantastic new routes to choose from, covering everything from sun-kissed Mediterranean hotspots like Barcelona and Ibiza to vibrant cities such as London and Paris. And the company has promised low, low fares, with one-way tickets starting from as little as 29.99 euros.
But it's not just about the destinations, as easyJet is also committed to delivering exceptional customer service and cutting-edge technology. Their modern fleet of Airbus A320 aircraft boasts state-of-the-art amenities, ensuring a comfortable and enjoyable flying experience. Plus, with streamlined check-in processes and intuitive mobile apps, getting to your destination has never been easier.
To celebrate the opening of the Alicante base, easyJet pulled out all the stops with a spectacular bonfire display, designed by renowned artist Sergio Gómez. Symbolising the airline's commitment to local traditions and customs, the breathtaking show featured a plane soaring over Alicante's iconic landmarks, setting the night sky ablaze with colourful flames and sparks.
easyJet’s new schedule from the Costa Blanca will operate between March and October. The budget airline's inaugural flight took off at 6.55am on Sunday March 31 heading for Glasgow.
Of the 22 destinations, ten of the routes are brand new for easyJet and include flights from Alicante to Birmingham, Southampton, Zurich, Nantes, Prague, Newcastle, Lille, Belfast, Lyon and Nice. In addition, it's offering 1.5 million seats in Alicante this summer season, an increase of around 10% compared to last year.
