First rains of 2024 arrive: Murcia weather forecast Jan 4-7
ARCHIVED ARTICLE -
The weather should, however, remain dry throughout the Region of Murcia for the Three Kings’ celebrations
Weather outlook on Friday January 5
The final stretch of 2023 was unseasonably warm in the Region of Murcia, with clear skies and dry weather being the order of the day. That’s all set to change this week though, and while it will be short-lived, the Region is set to experience the first rainfall of the year in the coming days.
During the first half of the week the days were bright and sunny and although the evenings were chilly, the maximum temperatures remained above 20ºC in most areas, with the mercury even hitting 23ºC in the likes of Lorca and Molina de Segura.
However, from Thursday January 4 the weather will begin to change and the rain will arrive, being particularly heavy in the Altiplano and the northwest of the Region. The skies will be generally cloudy and the showers will douse Murcia, Lorca and much of the coast by the afternoon.
Minimum and maximum temperatures on Thursday
Caravaca de la Cruz: 6ºC to 15ºC
Cartagena: 10ºC to 19ºC
Lorca: 8ºC to 19ºC
Murcia: 8ºC to 21ºC
Yecla: 10ºC to 16ºC
According to the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet), this wet weather will last until Friday morning, January 5, with the probability of rain set between 50% and 60% in most of Murcia.
But the good news is that this will subside in the evening in time for the Three Kings’ parades.
Minimum and maximum temperatures on Friday
Caravaca de la Cruz: 4ºC to 12ºC
Cartagena: 10ºC to 18ºC
Lorca: 6ºC to 16ºC
Murcia: 9ºC to 18ºC
Yecla: 3ºC to 12ºC
Daytime temperatures will continue to fall on Saturday January 6 although the skies should clear a bit. Weak frosts are forecast in the north of the Region and moderate winds from the northwest could create gusts in high areas.
Minimum and maximum temperatures on Saturday
Caravaca de la Cruz: 3ºC to 10ºC
Cartagena: 9ºC to 17ºC
Lorca: 6ºC to 15ºC
Murcia: 8ºC to 16ºC
Yecla: 2ºC to 11ºC
Sunday January 7 will be mostly clear, the skies interspersed with high clouds. There will be few changes to the day or nighttime temperatures but the frosts will persist inland.
