Get ready for another DANA: Murcia weekly weather forecast November 11-17
Expect a cold snap on Wednesday this week as the rain continues unabated
The weather forecast from Spain’s State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) for the Region of Murcia this week is for frequent showers and a rapid drop in temperatures midweek due to the arrival of another DANA storm.
DANA, meaning ‘Depresión Aislada en Niveles Altos’ or Isolated Depression at High Levels, refers to any ‘cold drop’ weather system which brings heavy rainfall and cold temperatures, mainly seen in autumn in the Mediterranean area.
Monday November 11 begins clear and bright before rain creeps into the southern half of the Region at around midday and doesn’t let up until the evening. These will be weak, scattered showers but later in the week we can expect harder downpours.

This pattern is repeated on Tuesday 12, when the morning will be sunny but the afternoon brings showers, especially to the south, where there may also be thunderstorms around Lorca and Puerto Lumbreras. Aemet has put the south coast of Murcia on yellow alert for the risk of storms and accumulated rainfall of up to 20mm per hour between the hours of 6pm and midnight.

Wednesday 13 is by far the rainiest day of the week, and the coldest with both minimum and maximum temperatures are expected to plunge as a new DANA storm hits southeastern Spain.
Aemet says the rain will be “widespread and persistent” and predicts snow at 1,200 metres above sea level. They also forecast “light to moderate winds from the north, with strong intervals in the Campo de Cartagena”.

Whereas on Tuesday the maximum temperature is forecast to be 21-22ºC, on Wednesday it will be 17-19ºC on the coast, and inland much cooler.

From Thursday morning, November 14, and all through the day, there will be showers almost everywhere in the Region, and Aemet says there is a possibility of frost in the mountainous areas, but the temperatures will once again rise to their previous level – around 10-14ºC at night and up to 22-23ºC during the day.

There is more rain to come on Friday, but no strong winds or a drop in temperatures, while for now Aemet is forecasting a fairly dry weekend. However, as the week goes on and we see how the coming storm develops, that could all change.
