There will be widespread rains midweek, but the sun will return to brighten up the weekend
Andalucía weather, Wednesday April 20
The Spanish have a saying: ‘En abril, aguas mil’. Which just means it rains a lot in April, and this year popular wisdom hasn’t failed us. It’s been a wet month in Andalucía, and this looks set to continue as we approach the end of it, but the move into May should be sunny this weekend.
The whole region will be bathed in glorious sunshine on Monday April 25, but by Tuesday the heavy cloud cover begins to move in. There will be rain in the inland areas of Granada, Jaén and Cordoba, but the rest of the region will be spared until Wednesday.
On Wednesday, much of the east of Andalucía will have heavy rain and thunderstorms, including the Costa del Sol and the Costa de Almeria, and light showers will even reach up to the northern edges of Huelva and Seville and around the Bay of Cadiz and Gibraltar.
However, the maximum and minimum temperatures will not vary too much with the arrival of the rains, staying around 7-8ºC in the coldest watch of the night and rising up to 22-24ºC at around 5pm each day.
On Thursday and Friday, too, while there is widespread sunshine, there will still be continuous downpours from Malaga and Cordoba all the way across the eastern side of Andalucía and scattered showers in the west.
On Friday evening, though, the rains will withdraw and the sun will emerge on Saturday and Sunday to dry out the region ready for the bank holiday weekend, and temperatures will begin to soar up to 28ºC in some areas such as Seville city and the Campo de Gibraltar – the perfect weather to get down to the beach or out into the countryside, or just relax by the pool.
