While the Mediterranean coast in general will escape the worst of the stormy episodes, the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has issued yellow alerts for strong gusts and dangerously high waves in Alicante.
Monday January 27
In the next few hours, Storm Herminia will cross the province, and Aemet has activated a yellow wind alert for the regions of l'Alcoià, Alto Vinalopó, Medio Vinalopó, Bajo Vinalopó, Vega Baja, l'Alacantí, Marina Baixa and Marina Alta.
This weather warning will remain in place until 7am on Tuesday, with gusts of between 70 and 80 kilometres per hour expected inland.
In addition, a yellow alert for waves up to three metres high has been issued for the entire coast, caused by winds of between 50 and 60 kilometres per hour.
In contrast, the temperatures will shoot up into the low to high 20s throughout Alicante.
Tuesday January 28
Tuesday will be very cloudy with heavy rain forecast inland, but this could spread in the form of scattered showers to the entire province. The gusts will continue to cause problems in parts, so all of the coastline and inland Alicante remain on alert for dangerous sea conditions.
Daytime temperatures will plummet by several degrees.
Wednesday January 29
Wednesday will become more and more overcast as the hours go by with scattered rain likely inland. This could extend to all parts of Alicante province as light and irregular showers.
Temperatures will continue to fall, resulting in light frosts in the north.
Strong winds from the west are forecast again, but the weather warnings have been lifted.
Thursday January 30
Cloudy skies are expected on Thursday with the possibility of light and isolated rain. The westerly wind will be light enough in general but gusts could develop along the northern coast.
No major changes are expected temperature-wise.
