ARCHIVED - Hot with sultry nights and chance of thunderstorms: Alicante weather outlook August 1-4
ARCHIVED ARTICLE
The mercury will continue to rise and reach 37℃ in parts of Alicante province by Thursday August 4
The province has barely left the second heatwave of the summer and looks set to enter a third, according to the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet), which predicts that a new air flow from the Sahara on Wednesday August 3 will see the mercury rise to 36/37℃ in coastal areas such as Orihuela Costa.
There's unlikely to be any respite at night as minimum temperatures are not expected to drop below 24/25℃ in Alicante city and the Marina Alta region as the week progresses, and scattered showers accompanied by thunderstorms have not been ruled out.
Monday August 1 will get off to a clear start in most of the province with intervals of cloud in inland mountainous area. Minimum temperatures are unlikely to changed but maximums will rise slightly. Light winds from the south and southeast are forecast with moderate winds on the coast.

it's a very similar picture on Tuesday August 2: clear skies in all but mountainous areas further inland with a continued rise in maximum temperatures across the board and light to moderate south and southeasterly winds.

Again, scattered showers and thunderstorms have not been ruled out in inland areas.
