More scorching temperatures are on the way in Andalucía this week, with maximums as high as 44ºC/111ºF forecast for next Sunday, June 25, in parts of the region.
The week starts with some showers in the east, though, in the mountainous areas of Jaén and Granada on Monday and Tuesday, graduating into thunderstorms in parts of Almería like the town of Albox on Wednesday June 21.

The western half of the region should remain dry all week, with the Costa del Sol and Cádiz enjoying plentiful sunshine and pleasant daytime temperatures in the high-20s and low-30s.
Wednesday June 21 is also the official start of summertime, and this evening of Friday June 23 Spain celebrates its San Juan summer solstice festival with the custom of people jumping over bonfires on the beaches.
As the sunny weather overtakes the entire autonomous community of Andalucía from Thursday June 22 onwards into the weekend, maximum temperatures will climb to above the 40-degree mark in Sevilla and Cordoba.
At night, most places will hang around 20-22ºC or so, but the higher mountains of Granada will once again feel the cold more, dropping down to 15-17ºC at night.
So far, no warnings for extreme weather patterns have been issued for the risks associated with high temperatures, but these are only released a maximum of three days in advance and are updated constantly, so it is possible that Sevilla, Cordoba and Huelva will once again be on high alert this coming weekend.
In addition, Cádiz may be on alert for strong winds and high waves at the weekend, with gusts of easterly ‘Levante’ wind faster than 30kmh and even up to 45kmh on Friday.
