January 31 to March 8 MULAFLOR, the almond blossom celebrations in Mula

Guided walks and great photo opportunities as the countryside of Mula turns pink and white!

January 31 to March 8 MULAFLOR, the almond blossom celebrations in Mula One of the features of late winter in many parts of the Region of Murcia is the pink and white almond blossom which dominates the countryside, and although the season begins earlier in coastal areas in Mula, in the north-west of the Region, the most spectacular time to visit is generally during the month of February.

To coincide with this natural phenomenon, a series of events and guided walks is being held in and around Mula in the Mulaflor season, which is being held for the second time this year, with the programme including the following:

Saturday January 31

11.00: The Mulaflor exhibition is officially opened at the Convento de San Francisco.

Saturday February 7

10.00 to 13.00: Inmersos en la Floración, a guided 4-kilometre walk starting at the sports centre and taking participants around the Casas Nuevas area in the south-west of the municipality. Registration will become available online here, price 4 euros.

16.00: An afternoon of conviviality among the blossom in Casas Nuevas.

10.00: Cuadrilla dance and music groups are officially welcomed in Casas Nuevas before a musical parade at 10.30. This is followed by Mass at 11.00 and then performances at 12.00.

10.00 to 14.00: Arts and crafts market in Casas Nuevas.

10.30 to 12.00: Captando Instantes, a photographic excursion to Casas Nuevas leaving from the sports centre. Registration will become available online here, price 4 euros.

12.30: Children’s painting workshop in Casas Nuevas. Registration at turismo@aytomula.es.

11.00 to 14.00 and 16.00 to 21.00: Arts and crafts market in the Plaza del Ayuntamiento.

12.30: Children’s painting workshop. Registration at turismo@aytomula.es.

17.00: Children’s visit to the ethnographic almond exhibition at the Convento de San Francisco. Registration at turismo@aytomula.es.

Sunday February 15

10.30 to 12.00: Captando Instantes, a photographic excursion to Fuente Librilla leaving from the sports centre. Registration will become available online here, price 4 euros.

11.00 to 14.00: Arts and crafts market in the Plaza del Ayuntamiento.

12.00: Guided history tour of Mula (in Spanish) including a chance to taste the local “muleñicos” at the end of the route, starting at the Convento de San Francisco. Price 4 euros payable by Bizum.

12.30: Children’s painting workshop in Casas Nuevas. Registration at turismo@aytomula.es.

13.00: Children’s ceramics workshop in the Plaza del Ayuntamiento. Registration at turismo@aytomula.es.

12.00: Guided history tour of Mula (in Spanish) including a chance to taste the examples of local produce at the end of the route, starting at the Convento de San Francisco. Price 4 euros payable by Bizum.

Saturday February 28

The annual gathering of “cuadrilla” music and dance groups begins in Fuente Librilla.

March 6 to 8

The Gastroflor gastronomy fair.
