Tui Higgins is an American living in Spain and working as a teacher of singing, piano and flute, and in 2013 she and the brilliant Lleida-based jazz pianist Xavier Monge brought out an album entitled “Cecilia Revisited”. This featured jazz versions of music by the popular Spanish singer Cecilia and the pair have continued to perform together ever since.
This performance in San Javier features some of those songs as well as others which were not included on the album, as well as titles which are included in their latest work concerning the compositions of Harold Arlen.
Accompanying them are three more exceptional musicians: David Mengual on double bass, Xavi Maureta on percussion and Jeppe Rasmussen on tenor Sax.
This free concert on Thursday July 21 begins at 22.30 on the Explanada Barnuevo in Santiago de la Ribera.
Season tickets and individual concerts for the main festival are available here: for the full line-up of the Festival click here, or scroll down the articles below.
