ARCHIVED - June 11 to Jul 2: Fiestas de La Costera 2022 in Alhama de Murcia
The town of Alhama is putting on three weeks of fun-packed activities to celebrate their Patron Saint Day at the end of June
- 18:30: III 'La Costera' Classic Car Rally. Reception and registration of vehicles. Price: 5 euros per person and children up to 14 years old free.
- 20:00: Drive through the village. Only for registered vehicles.
- 21:30: Barbecue. Only for registered vehicles.
- 22:30: Performance by Los Desguaces.
- 19:30: Big Bingo.
- 21:00: Dominoes Championship.
- 19:00: Bolos Huertanos Championship - Memorial 'Pepe el de La Alberca'.
- 22:00: Beginning of the fiestas with the opening speech by La Peña Aacho, collaborators of the fiestas of La Costera since 1996.
- 23:00: Tribute to the best Spanish pop music from the 80s and 90s with FYV Band.
- 8:00: XIII Pilgrimage in honour of the Patron Saint Peter. Leaves from the house of the Serrano Vera sisters (old petrol station), where the pilgrims will be offered breakfast. During the walk 'Juan, El Cabezón' will offer refreshments. This will be followed by a tasting of barbecued pork at the Ermita de San Pedro (Teleclub). The festival committee will donate the beer. La Cuadrilla De La Costera will accompany the whole route.
- 18:00: Traditional Games for Children. Drawing competition, sack race, pots and pans game, etc. It is advisable to come with a helmet and protective gear. There will be prizes and surprises.
- 21:00: Cheerleading championship.
- 21:00: Parcheesi championship.
- 20:00: Snack for senior members. Organised by the La Costera Neighbourhood Association.
- 21:00: Caliche competition.
- 19:00: Aerobic Marathon. Registration 3 euros per person. Includes T-shirt, water and snack.
- 21:00: Auction.
- 00:00: Bonfire in honour of St. John.
- 21:00: Migas night. The Festival Committee will provide all participants with flour, oil, salt, sardines, bacon, sausages, wine and firewood to cook up their own version of the traditional dish ‘Migas’. In collaboration with El Pozo Alimentación. Disco to liven up the evening. During the course of the evening, the winning number in the Once draw will be announced, to find out the winner of 300 euros in fuel, from the ballots sold. In collaboration with Dialco service station.
- 21:00: Inauguration of the fiestas bar.
- 10:00: Bike ride for all ages. Departure from the teleclub. Come with your bike, you'll have a great time.
- 14:00: Lunch. Sponsored by Cargo Alhama and the Festival Committee. Wine donated by Cefusa will be offered. Beer will be donated by the Comisión de Fiestas.
- 19:30: Holy mass officiated by the local parish priest Don José Prior Campillo and accompanied by the Cuadrilla de La Costera.
- 20:00: Solemn procession, accompanied by the music band of the Agrupación Musical de Alhama, as well as authorities and neighbours.
- 21:00: Children's entertainment and bouncy castle. Organised by: Animunis. Sponsored by: El Pedáneo de La Costera.
- 22:00: The service continues at the fiestas' beach bar.
- 22:00: Big open-air dance, enlivened by the musical duo Kalhima.
- 1:00: Chocolate and churros for all those attending.
- 11:30: VIII World Hoe Throwing Championship. There will be trophies and great prizes for the first classified. Categories: Veterans, Women and Absolute. Registration 3 euros per person Venue: Parking at the back of the Teleclub. Organised by Peña Aacho and the Festival Committee.
- 12:00: Motorbike ribbon race.
- 13:30: Aperitif donated by Frutería Francisca, and beer donated by Belchí Espadas.
- 14:30: Giant Paella for 300 people, made by El Tirol. Sponsored by: Tarahy Fruits S.L. and Comisión de Fiestas.
- 20:00: Children's entertainment and bouncy castle. Organised by: Animunis.
- 22:00: Big open-air dance with a performance by the duo Nerea. Trophies will be awarded to the winners of the competitions held during the fiestas.
- 00:00: Big fireworks display.
- 00:00: Bonfire in honour of San Pedro Apóstol.
- 21:00: The chapel will remain open for all those who wish to visit the town’s Patron Saint on his big day.
- 19:30: IX La Costera hiking route. Medium-low level hiking route, starting and finishing at the Teleclub, the route will follow paths and trails, going up to the Caracola viewpoint. Snack at the viewpoint, enjoying the scenery while it gets dark, then down the path of the Umbría. The route is 8 km with a difference in altitude of 300m. It is compulsory to bring water, a torch and suitable footwear. Registrations will be 6 euros per person, through social networks will be informed of the procedure for registration. Limited places, to sign up, it is necessary: name, date of birth and ID number. It is compulsory to be registered, last minute registrations and unregistered companions will not be accepted. For environmental permits, for the insurance that a route of this type entails and out of respect for those who do pay their registration fee. Organised by: Aacho Team, AAVV of La Costera and Festivities Commission. In collaboration with: Grupo Belmonte, Cervecería el Rincón, Restaurante los Rescoldos de Carrascoy, Supermercados GranBibio and the Town Hall of Alhama de Murcia.

Alhama de Murcia Tourist information office is located on the edge of the Plaza de la Constitución, just a few metres away from the underground car park and the Town hall of Alhama de Murcia.
The tourist office offers free guided audiotours in English which take visitors around the historical sites of interest in Alhama. These be loaned at any time, although allow an hour and a half to complete the tour, and when loaning the audio equipment visitors are asked to leave passports or ID cards with the tourist office.
The office also carries a full range of leaflets for the archaeological museum of Los Baños, which is built around the historic spa which gives Alhama its name, and the mountains of Sierra Espuña, which is also an important area within the municipality of Alhama. Areas such as El Berro and Gebas have a number of interesting routes which can be followed and there are several picnic areas and good walking routes within the Sierra Espuña natural park.
The tourist office also carries leaflets for the many cultural events and fiestas which take place in Alhama throughout the year, including Los Mayos, Semana Santa, Christmas,the Romería of La Candelaria and the Auto de los Reyes Magos in El Berro.
