ARCHIVED - June arrives with slightly lower temperatures and cloudy skies: Spain weather May 30-June 2
ARCHIVED ARTICLE
The mercury will drop in much of Spain although the settled weather is expected to continue for the most part
As May gives way to June the settled weather will continue for the most part, although the temperatures will decrease slightly across much of Spain, due to a storm situated to the west of the Portuguese coast.
Monday May 30
The incoming storm will bring cloudy skies and showers to Galicia, western Cantabria and the northwest of the Canary Islands on Monday, and while the mercury is set to rise once more in central Catalonia, the Valencian Community and the Balearic Islands it will drop in the rest of Spain, with only the Ebro valley and the extreme southeast set to exceed 30ºC.
The provinces of Almeria and Malaga are under a yellow weather warning for dangerous waves.
Tuesday May 31
Little change on Tuesday with the storm bringing light rain and overcast skies to the north of the country, and a yellow weather alert has been activated in Galicia for storms. Cloudy skies will likely predominate in the rest of Spain and the Balearic Islands on Tuesday as well, although daytime temperatures will rise once more, particularly in the south, where the mercury will hit 30ºC in Sevilla.
The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has advised that suspended dust could make a reappearance along the Mediterranean coast and in the Balearic Islands.
Wednesday June 1
June will arrive with a similar weather pattern: cloudy skies, showers and some storms in the northwest and considerable cloud cover in the rest of Spain. Weak showers are forecast for the eastern Cantabria area, spreading down to the southeast east as the day goes on.
In general, temperatures will hover around the high 20s, breaching 30ºC in the south and even climbing as high as 35ºC in the Ebro. Night-time temperatures are also on the rise, reaching 18ºC in Alicante.
Thursday June 2
Temperatures will drop on Thursday in most of Spain, although there will be little change along the Mediterranean coast. A continuous low located to the northwest of Galicia will produce cloudy skies and scattered showers in the northwest, and light rain could be seen in mountainous areas of the east.
Suspended dust is expected in the Mediterranean area and the Balearic Islands.
