A month-long celebration of culture, history and nature in the Vega Baja
From March 8 to 29, the charming city of Orihuela and its stunning coastal counterpart, Orihuela Costa, invite you to embark on a fascinating journey of discovery, exploring the region's cultural, historical, natural and gastronomic treasures.
This month-long celebration offers a diverse range of themed routes, each carefully crafted to showcase the unique essence of Orihuela.
Orihuela City tours
One of the highlights of the month is the brand-new route, ‘The Expansion of Orihuela and its Historical Context’, which culminates in a wine tasting experience on Sunday March 9. This gastronomic adventure provides a unique opportunity to delve into the city's rich history while savouring some of the region's finest wines.
For those interested in the culinary arts, a visit to the Museo-Almazara del Tío Jose María on Sunday March 23 is a must. This interactive experience allows participants to learn about the artisanal process of oil production, complete with a tasting of premium oil.
The ‘Discover Orihuela and its Cultural Legacy’ route, taking place on Saturday March 8, offers a historical tour of the city's majestic monuments, providing a glimpse into its storied past.
As the month draws to a close, a dramatised tour honouring the life and work of Josefina Manresa, the muse and inspiration of renowned poet Miguel Hernández, will take place on the last weekend of March. This poignant tribute coincides with the anniversary of the poet's passing.
Orihuela Costa tours
For nature lovers, the Aguamarina natural micro-reserve, located on the coast, is a must-visit destination. A guided hike through the stunning landscape of Punta Prima, scheduled for Saturday March 22, promises breathtaking views and an unforgettable experience.
Additionally, a visit to the Diocesan Seminary of San Miguel on Thursday March 27, and the Wall Museum and the Church of Santas Juntas and Rufina on Friday March 21, offer a unique glimpse into the region's architectural and historical heritage.
