May 17-19 Cartagena food festival
Food stalls, cookery workshops and a wine tasting session are all part of the Cartagena Puerto de Sabores food fair 2024

Cartagena is preparing to host the 4th annual edition of its gastronomic fair ‘Cartagena Puerto de Sabores’ on the weekend of Friday May 17 to Sunday 19.
Promoted by the City Council of Cartagena and the Institute of Tourism of the Region (ITREM), the so-called ‘Port of Flavours’ food fair aims to showcase the gastronomy and food products typical of the municipality, including oysters, meat and fish dishes, café asiático and even wine aged under the sea in Cartagena!

The food festival coincides with the celebration, that same weekend, of the Night of Museums and the 200-odd activities programmed for that, meaning an estimated 50,000 people are expected to visit the city over the weekend.
In this sense, the Regional Minister for Tourism, Culture, Youth and Sports, Carmen Conesa, who praised Cartagena as “the tourist capital of the Region”, highlighted the high level of the local cuisine, “positioning us at a national and international level and this, to a large extent, is thanks to the professionals in the hotel and catering industry”.
The Fair will be open from 12 midday to 1am, except on Sunday when it will close at 8pm. The businesses that will be setting up stands for the food festival on the esplanade of the Sailing Club in Cartagena Port will be Estrella de Levante, Coca Cola, En Vilo Wines, Bodegas Undersea, La Boca te Lía, EYWA, La Mita, Cafe Asiático by Jose Diaz, Chamfer Coffe, Los Elementos, Canales 5 Brasserie Moderne, Parlamento Andaluz, Paco Rosa and Restaurante El Mosqui, all of whom will be serving food and drink.
In addition, four special gastronomic activities have been organised, in which two Michelin star chefs will participate, Juan Guillamón from the Almo restaurant and María Gómez from Magoga, who will give an exclusive cookery workshop for 20 people,
What’s more, on the Friday 17, there will be a stage with a tribute concert to Los Intocables and on Saturday 18 there will be a tribute concert to Mandarines y Pomelo. In addition, on Saturday evening there will be a Chocolate Workshop with space for 50 children to take part and a Wine Tasting for 30 (adult) people.

Where to find basic tourism information and information about historical sites and places to visit in Cartagena, Spain.
Cartagena has a wealth of historical sites, including the Roman Theatre Museum, Archaeological Museum, ARQUA Subaquatic Archaeology Museum, Panoramic lift, Civil War Air raid Shelter and Military and Naval Museums, as well as Tourist Bus and Tourist Boat which ferries visitors across to the Fuerte de Navidad.
There is one main Tourist Information Office and 2 tourist information points, the main one being in the Muralla Púnica Interpretation centre in Calle de san Diego and the other next to the Civil War Air Raid Shelter and Panoramic lift.
The office in the Plaza del Ayuntamiento is the easiest place to pick up a map if you've come into the port from a cruise ship, and has a few basic leaflets, but not a lot else.
The information point for the Puerto de Culturas attractions is by the Panoramic lift and Civil War Air Raid shelter in Calle Gisbert, although maps and leaflets are available at any of 3 information points.
There is plenty of in depth information about Cartagena in the dedicated Cartagena section, accessed via the map box at the bottom of every article page or by using the town search box at the top of the page. the introduction gives basic information about the city and then readers can select from the subjects below for information about the city, or the rest of the municipality.
