Murcia City Council renews the lighting of the Enrique Roca stadium with state of the art LED technology
The installation of the stadium lighting has been carried out at the football stadium in Murcia city to facilitate the international match when the Spanish National Football Team will host Denmark, in the qualifying phase for the League of Nations on October 12. Such is the excitement surrounding this match, it sold out less than an hour after the tickets became available.
The Councillor for Urban Development and Smart City, José Guillén, and the Councillor for Sports, Miguel Ángel Noguera, visited the Enrique Roca stadium to view the recent installation of new lighting with cutting-edge LED technology. This will give an energy saving of 38% by reducing electricity consumption, and will optimise the visibility and quality of sporting events.
This ambitious project involves replacing 146 of the 2,500W metal halide floodlights with innovative 1,550W LED floodlights, incorporating the latest LED lighting technology.
Installation is ongoing and expected to be completed in a few days, allowing the stadium to enjoy significantly improved light levels from an average of 500 lux to approximately 2,000 lux. In addition, the colour rendering index is raised to 90, ensuring a more faithful representation of colours in television broadcasts. Lighting was also one of the issues contained in the "snagging list" compiled by UEFA officials in readiness for Spain v Denmark game.
The new lighting features DMX and DALI connectivity, optimising the stadium's lighting management and providing greater flexibility in event programming, and allows 4K television broadcasts, an essential condition for hosting this type of major sporting event.
By installing the new illumination, Real Murcia CF, with the support of NTE, the Royal Spanish Football Federation and the City Council of Murcia ensures that the stadium meets the lighting requirements necessary for the broadcast of both national and international matches, positioning it as a benchmark in quality sports infrastructure.
Murcia, venue for the Spanish national team match
On October 12, Murcia will become the focus of national and international football by hosting the Nations League match between the Spanish National Football Team and Denmark, promoting the Murcia venue to a worldwide audience. It was also recently the venue for the 2024 Spanish Basketball Super Cup.
The thousands of fans who attend the match will find a modern stadium and renovated facilities, which in recent months have undergone significant improvements both aesthetically and practically. The stadium surroundings have also received attention including extensive cleaning and a large mural in homage to home team Real Murcia.
