Murcia weather forecast June 5-11: Showers cease and summer begins?
ARCHIVED ARTICLE -
It will be much less rainy overall this week and temperatures will begin to rise once again
This week may signal the beginning of the end for this rainy period we’ve had for the last two or three weeks in the Region of Murcia, though by no means is that to say it will be unceasingly dry and sunny.
Over the course of the week, though, the showers will become less frequent and less severe, while temperatures rise slightly, even reaching as high as 30ºC in Murcia capital city on Thursday. For the time being, there are no more weather warnings issued for this week in the Region beyond Monday, when there are also alerts in the neighbouring provinces of Albacete and Alicante.
On Monday June 5, the morning will be dry with clear skies, but there will be afternoon showers in Lorca, Mazarrón, Murcia and Alhama, as well as thunderstorms in Mula, Bullas and Caravaca de la Cruz, where the warning for storms and accumulated rainfall of up to 20mm per hour has been issued. There could even be some hail in high altitude areas.

For Tuesday 6, the forecast is for predominantly cloudy skies, with occasional showers inland and some mist in the morning. There will be winds from the east, light inland and slightly stronger on the coast.

On Wednesday 7, the rains return, and it will be a dark, dreary day all over – a perfect day to stay indoors. Even so, the wind will not be strong and the rains on Wednesday are not expected to bring the dramatic flash flooding we have seen over the last couple of weeks.

Thursday afternoon will bring the chance of more gentle showers in the western half of the Region, from Cieza in the north down to Águilas in the south, but for the most part we will begin to dry out and temperatures will begin a steady ascent.

Friday June 9 will bring a similar forecast, but by Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 we can expect beautiful, clear days and blazing sunshine with minimal chance of rain and daytime temperatures in the high-20s or even breaking the 30ºC-barrier in Murcia city and San Javier.
After the torrential deluges we’ve had of late, this could be the turning point and the start of what for many people will feel like summer.
