Heavy downpours will hit much of Andalucia later in the week although the days will remain warm
Weather outlook on Thursday January 4
Andalucia is enduring the worst drought situation in several years but the parched earth will experience a brief reprieve as we approach the weekend, with abundant and widespread rain forecast in most of the community.
Despite this, the temperatures will remain mild for the beginning of January, hovering around the high teens throughout the region.
Tuesday January 2
The Mediterranean coast of Andalucia will be mostly bright and clear on Tuesday but elsewhere the cloud cover will be heavier, with morning mists and even some fog forecast along the Atlantic slope.
Nighttime temperatures will fall slightly, creating weak frosts inland, but the day will be a couple of degrees warmer in most parts.
Variable light winds from the west will feel stronger on the Mediterranean coast.
Minimum and maximum temperatures on Tuesday
Almeria: 9ºC to 18ºC
Cádiz: 10ºC to 19ºC
Cordoba: 3ºC to 17ºC
Granada: 0ºC to 18ºC
Huelva: 9ºC to 18ºC
Jaen: 5ºC to 16ºC
Malaga: 8ºC to 22ºC
Sevilla: 7ºC to 19ºC
Wednesday January 3
Overcast skies in the northwest of Andalucia could lead to some light showers from the afternoon onwards. In the rest of the region, slightly cloudy skies will predominate and it should remain dry.
Nighttime temperatures will remain unchanged in the southwest and rise elsewhere while at the height of the day, the mercury should jump up in the east.
Moderate westerly winds on the coast will become occasionally strong along the Mediterranean.

Almeria: 10ºC to 20ºC
Cádiz: 10ºC to 18ºC
Cordoba: 3ºC to 16ºC
Granada: 2ºC to 19ºC
Huelva: 9ºC to 19ºC

Malaga: 13ºC to 23ºC
Sevilla: 6ºC to 20ºC
Thursday January 4
The cloud cover will continue to deepen on Thursday, leading to widespread rainfall that could be stormy and persistent in the southwest of the community. Maximum temperatures will fall across the board and the snow level will drop to around 1,800 metres by the end of the day.
However, the night will be milder than earlier in the week and the westerly breezes will be generally light.
