ARCHIVED - Risk of storms as temperatures level out: Murcia weather forecast June 27-July 3
ARCHIVED ARTICLE
The mercury will begin to climb steadily as June gives way to July in the Murcia Region
The Region of Murcia has seen the last of the June heatwave as temperatures stabilise at around 30-35ºC for the coming week, with dry and sunny weather forecast for the most part. However, Aemet has warned that the UV index will remain very high at the beginning of the week.
Monday June 27 has dawned with slightly cloudy skies across the Region but a generally clear day will follow, with the exception of the Altiplano and the eastern area of the Vega del Segura, where rain and occasional storms accompanied by hailstone are forecast.
Day-time temperatures will decrease in the northeast of the Region while remaining much the same in the rest of the community. The mercury will top out at 33ºC but the day will be considerably cooler in Cartagena (27ºC) and Yecla (28ºC).
The night will be comfortable, with the thermometers hovering between 13ºC and 18ºC.
Slightly cloudy skies are expected on Tuesday June 28 with morning fog. Night-time temperatures are on the rise while the maximums will remain largely unchanged at between 30 and 32ºC.
Wednesday June 29 will begin cloudy but this will clear as the day goes on. Day and night-time temperatures will remain stable.
Looking ahead to Thursday June 30, Aemet forecasts intervals of low morning cloud along the coast. There is a small chance of occasional showers that may be accompanied by storms in the north of the Region.
Day-time temperatures will continue unchanged for the most part and should not exceed 32ºC.
As we approach the weekend, the Murcia Region will only hit a maximum of around 31-33ºC on Friday July 1, while night-time temperatures will remain high and are unlikely to drop below 18ºC in most areas.
Sleeping will become more difficult on Saturday July 2, as a cloudy day will give way to stifling minimum temperatures of 20ºC in Murcia, and the mercury is unlikely to drop below 23ºC during the night in Cartagena.
The thermometers are expected to shoot up again on Sunday July 3, reaching a blistering 38ºC in almost the entire region with the exception of Cartagena, which will remain at a balmy 31ºC.
However, the port city will see the highest night-time temperatures once again, with the mercury failing to drop below 25ºC.
