More weather warnings for hot weather have been issued by the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) for the Region of Murcia this Monday and Tuesday, and there is the chance of Saharan dust too.
On Monday July 15, the south, north and northwest of the Region are on yellow alert between 1pm and 9pm for maximum temperatures reaching up to 39ºC, while central Murcia is on orange alert at these same times for temperatures of up to 40ºC.

On Tuesday 16, temperatures are forecast to drop slightly, but the centre of the Region is still on yellow warning for temperatures of up to 38ºC. Everywhere else in Murcia, the heat alerts have been deactivated.
While temperatures dip slightly on Wednesday, it will get much hotter again starting from Thursday and later in the week, with much plus-40-degree temperatures forecast. The official heat warnings have yet to be issued because they are only issued three days in advance.

At night, it will be between 20-25ºC most of the time, and on the coast and around the Campo de Cartagena it will be a bit cooler, with maximums of 32-35ºC during the day for most of the week. It will be mainly sunny all week long, with some cloudy patches coming and going and no rain forecast.
The dry conditions mean that the current level of risk of forest fire, according to Aemet, is ‘Extreme’ in most parts of inland Murcia.
There is also a “chance of suspended dust” in the air, according to Aemet – the kind of calima Saharan dust that could make everything sandy and reddish on Wednesday and Thursday this week.
Windspeeds will be “light” and occasionally “moderate”, so no great gusts present to bring a cooling feeling to these hot days.
