Scorching temperatures kick off the month: Spain weather forecast June 3-6
ARCHIVED ARTICLE -
The temperatures will easily exceed 35ºC in most of Spain at the beginning of the week
Minimum and maximum temperatures on Thursday
The month of June will begin with stifling heat in much of Spain, with temperatures that could be 10ºC above normal for this time of year, according to the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet).
By the middle of this week, the mercury will tip 35ºC in the north of the country and it will be even hotter in central and southern Spain.
However, the heat will ease off at the end of the week, when low pressures could cause a sharp thermal drop and rain, especially in the north.
Monday June 3
After a brief reprieve from the heat over the weekend, the temperatures will shoot up across the board on Monday, easily reaching 35ºC in the likes of Sevilla. The day will be bright and pleasant in most places, with the exception of Galicia and the western Pyrenees, where overcast skies and weak rain are forecast.
Towards the afternoon, some strong gusts will form in the south, and a yellow weather warning has been issued in Andalucía for winds and rough seas.
Tuesday June 4
Tuesday will be a little cloudier across the board but the weather will remain settled for the most part, although scattered showers haven’t been ruled out in the extreme south.
Day-time temperatures will continue to climb and while it will still be breezy in coastal areas, no weather alerts have been issued.
Wednesday June 5
It will be mostly clear again on Wednesday, although the cloud cover will build towards the evening and this could lead to some weak rain in Cantabria and in the north of the Canary Islands.
The mercury will continue on its upward trajectory, with notable increases in the southwest, where the thermometers are likely to reach and even exceed 35ºC.
A predominance of winds from the south and east is expected in the Mediterranean area.
Thursday June 6
The weather will begin to change on Thursday and the cloud cover will build in the west, where scattered showers and occasional storms are a possibility. Most parts of Spain can expect cloudy intervals which will deepen as the hours go by.
Maximum temperatures will tend to increase, with few changes in the west of the country and the Canary Islands. The mercury is expected to exceed 35ºC again in large areas of the southern half of Spain.
