Thermometers won't exceed 34ºC in Alicante province over the next few days
The heatwave that has seen Alicante bake in temperatures in excess of 40ºC continues to recede with a much more pleasant weekend ahead, according to the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet).
Night-time temperatures will abate notably, dropping to 16 and 17ºC in parts, and the mercury will fall slightly on Friday and Saturday only to change trajectory on Sunday, but nothing too drastic.
Thursday August 18 will remain partly cloudy for much of the day and there's a chance of weak and isolated showers in the northern inland areas. Both minimum and maximum temperatures will decrease in the south with minimal change elsewhere. Light variable winds are forecast throughout the day with breezes in coastal areas in the afternoon.
