In this last full week of February, the weather in Andalucía at the start of the week will be gloriously sunny and warm before rain sets in for many parts as we approach the weekend.

On Monday February 19 and Tuesday 20, there will barely be a cloud in the sky anywhere in the whole region and barely a breeze to speak of, meaning we can enjoy the gorgeous 23-degree weather and leave the coats at home.

On Wednesday 21, there will be a few more clouds in the sky, but nothing dark or heavy and temperatures will remain high, reaching 22-23ºC in Seville, Córdoba and many other places.

For Thursday 22, the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) forecasts “fairly cloudy skies, increasing to cloudy during the afternoon” and maximum temperatures rising in the east up to an incredible 25ºC in Motril (Granada) and 26ºC in Almería.

However, the rain will begin to set in, starting in the far northwest and travelling down through to the middle of the region to cover many parts of Jaén, Granada and Cádiz by the evening. Winds will be blowing from the west, increasing during the day, with very strong gusts on the Mediterranean coast and in the eastern sierras.

On Friday 23, there is a sharp, sudden drop in temperatures forecast across the board. For instance, minimum temperatures in the Sierra Nevada mountains of Granada will fall by almost double digits, from 5ºC the day before to -4ºC this Friday. Maximums there will only reach 7ºC, while not far away, down in the lowlands of Almería, they will be 19-20ºC.

More rain is forecast in the centre and west of Andalucía, plus snow in high altitude areas and thunderstorms in localised parts of Jaén.

The showers continue sporadically on Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 and the whole of Andalucía will be much cloudier and cooler, with the exception of the coasts of Almería, Granada and the eastern part of Málaga.
