Storms will continue to bluster through northern Spain this week
Weather outlook on Wednesday May 22
The weather in Spain this coming week will be determined by the presence of low pressures and incoming blasts of cold air. While this means the temperatures will be slightly lower than we’re used to in May, most of southern Spain will remain pleasantly bright and warm, and the worst of the storms should be confined to the north of the country.
Monday May 20
The unstable weather that has marked the month of May will continue in northern Spain this week, where lots of storms and heavy rain are expected. The rest of the country should be nice and bright early in the day but the cloud cover will gather late in the afternoon, and there’s a chance of showers inland.
Daytime temperatures will increase slightly in coastal areas, peaking at 26ºC in Alicante and Malaga.
Tuesday May 21
Few changes are expected in northern Spain but the overcast skies will take hold in the rest of Spain and the Balearic Islands on Tuesday. Showers aren’t ruled out on the eastern coast, and these could develop into storms in Castellón and around the Cantabrian coast.
Andalucía, on the other hand, will enjoy a bright, sunny day.
Daytime temperatures will tend to increase slightly in most of the country, more markedly on the Valencian coast, and with some decreases in the extreme west of the country.
Wednesday May 22
Wednesday will be a little cloudy in southern Spain but the skies should clear completely in the afternoon.
Maximum temperatures will drop in the Levante area, with increases predominating in the rest of the southern half of the country, more markedly in Andalucia, and in general with few changes in the rest of Spain.
Thursday May 23
Instability is expected to persist in the extreme north of Spain, with a predominance of cloudy or overcast skies and rain, generally weak and dispersed at first, and more intense and widespread during the afternoon.
The weather will settle down in the rest of mainland Spain and the Balearic Islands, although the skies will gradually become more cloudy as the day goes on, which could result in the occasional shower in the northeast.
An increase in daytime temperatures is expected in most of the Atlantic slope, with decreases in the Mediterranean and the Balearic Islands, and without major changes in the rest of the country.
