Creator of the ITV hit series is hosting a convention for lovers of the show in the Costa Blanca coastal town next month
Die-hard fans of the hugely successful ITV comedy, Benidorm, are in for a treat next month as the iconic British show's creator puts the final touches to a cast reunion in the Spanish seaside resort on the Costa Blanca.
The public will be able to soak up the 'Benidorm experience' and meet with the actors who have become household names at a special event at BeniCon on November 18.
The sitcom, written and created by Derren Litten and produced by Tiger Aspect for ITV. aired for 10 series from February 2007 until May 2018, and in addition to BAFTA nominations, won numerous TV awards.
The series won the hearts of the nation parodying the adventures of a group of Britsh holidaymakers from completely different backgrounds staying at the Solana holiday resort in Spain, and starred the likes of Jake Canuso, Steve Pemberton, Tim Healy, Adam Gillen, Johnny Vegas, Sheridan Smith, and Sherrie Hewson.
News of the cast reunion was broken to fans in a post on BeniCon's official Instagram account, which read: “Another Garvey confirmed for BeniCon. So excited to share that Oliver Stokes, who played Michael Garvey, is confirmed for BeniCon this November 18-20th 2022. Hmm…will Steve Pemberton join us now to reunite the whole original Garvey family?”
Another confirmed actor who will be attending is the legendary Sheila Reid, who played Madge Harvey in the series.
The profile revealed organisers are “working on ways to incorporate the beautiful Old Town” into the experience, where “lots of Benidorm scenes were filmed” and allegedly the “best tapas in the world”.
The post then advises anyone interested in meeting the cast to visit the BeniCon website or book their hotel packages which includes tickets.
Immediately, lovers of the iconic series shared their excitement with one social media user writing: “Omg, I’ve so got to come to this,” accompanied by clapping emojis.
Another gushed:“Was hoping this would happen,” with other fans heralding the Garvey family actors “legends of Benidorm”.
