Summer temperatures follow stormy start to the week: Spain weather June 12-15
ARCHIVED ARTICLE -
Several regions of Spain will experience tropical nights and sweltering summer days from the middle of the week
The weather in Spain will continue to play a game of two halves this week as the remnants of storm Oscar predictably douse the north of the country in heavy rain with stormy intervals, while a high-level depression, or DANA, will sweep in from the west, bringing a good chance of showers to the rest of Spain at the beginning of the week.
The temperatures will generally drop on Monday and Tuesday as the front gradually moves towards the Mediterranean, increasing the chance of showers and storms. However, as we move into the middle of the week, stable and much warmer weather will gain ground in the southwest, with the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) predicting several days of more summery weather from Wednesday.
Monday June 12 will see a continuation of the overcast skies and heavy rain that marked the weekend in northern and inland Spain, with more intense hail storms expected around the Pyrenees. Some scattered showers are also forecast in the southeast and the Canary Islands, but the rest of the south and the Balearics should remain bright, clear and dry.
After a very warm weekend the daytime temperatures will fall slightly in the Mediterranean, with few changes elsewhere.
Yellow weather alert for heavy rain and storms: Aragón, Asturias, Cantabria, Castilla y León, Castilla-La Mancha, Catalonia, Galicia, Madrid, Navarra, the Basque Country, La Rioja and the Valencian Community.
Minimum and maximum temperatures on Monday
Alicante: 20ºC; 27ºC
Málaga: 22ºC; 32ºC
Murcia: 30ºC; 32ºC
Tuesday June 13 will likely be the most unsettled day of the week, with widespread showers and thunderstorms forecast. Northern Spain will be wet and dreary from early morning and the overcast skies will spread as far as the Balearic Islands late in the afternoon. Throughout the day the rain will intensify across the board, eventually landing in eastern Spain. On the other hand, Andalucia and the rest of the southwest should remain largely dry, with the exception of some light drizzle in mountainous areas.
The mercury will continue to drop in most of the country, more pronounced inland, although thermometers will creep up slightly along the southeast coasts and the Gulf of Cádiz.

Minimum and maximum temperatures on Tuesday
Alicante: 21ºC; 28ºC
Málaga: 22ºC; 32ºC
Murcia: 21ºC; 34ºC
Wednesday June 14 will bring big changes, with most of the country expected to be dry and bright. The northeast and the Balearic Islands, however, will continue to experience occasional heavy rain, although this too will subside throughout the day.
The mercury will take a jump upwards in general, especially along the Atlantic coast and much of the south will have to endure an uncomfortably warm night, with temperatures failing to dip below 20ºC.

The stormy front will have mostly petered out by Thursday June 15, although there will still be a few remnants in the northeast and in the Balearic Islands. But overall, a generally clear and sunny day is on the on the cards, slightly cloudy inland.
Daytime temperatures are again on the rise across the board, while the night promises to be rather clammy throughout the southwest.
No weather alerts have yet been issued for Thursday.
