Sunshine returns to Spain: Weather forecast April 21-24
ARCHIVED ARTICLE -
Daytime temperatures should start to inch up in much of southern Spain from Tuesday
Weather outlook on Wednesday April 23
It’s the news we’ve all been waiting for: the relentless rain is finally going to take a break after Easter and we can look forward to at least a few days of sunshine and cloudless skies. The forecasters did predict a warmer-than-usual April and while it may be a little late arriving, it appears that the month is going to wrap up in true spring style.
“The week of April 21-27 will begin with rain in the northern half, although it will lessen over the days. There will also be a possibility of showers in parts of the eastern peninsula. Much of the country will experience lower than usual rainfall for this time of year,” a statement from the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) confirmed.
Monday April 21
Cloudy skies will continue to dominate on Monday in most of the country, with light rain affecting northern towns. However, it should remain dry along the Mediterranean coast and in the Balearic Islands.
Daytime temperatures will start to inch up in most parts, reaching a summery 26ºC in Murcia, and Monday night should also be a little warmer, except in the southwest.
Tuesday April 22
The unstable weather will persist in the Balearics and in northern Spain, with cloudy skies and occasional thunderstorms. Elsewhere, under the influence of the Azores high, the skies will be mostly cloudy but dry for the most part.
Few changes are expected temperature-wise, with highs of 24ºC forecast in the likes of Malaga and Murcia.
Wednesday April 23
It won’t be until Wednesday that we’ll feel spring has truly spung, at least in the south of the country, where there will be plenty of bright, sunny spells interspersed with high clouds throughout the day.
Daytime temperatures should climb across the board, with the thermometers shooting up by several degrees inland.
Thursday April 24
Although Thursday will remain overcast and damp in northern Spain, partly cloudy to clear skies will prevail in the rest of the country and the Balearic Islands.
Maximum temperatures will continue to creep up in most parts and Thursday night will also be far milder than previous days.
