Temperatures, in general terms, have been below normal for the first half of June, especially in northern Spain. In the south, temperatures exceeded 30ºC in some areas earlier this week, but that is still pretty moderate for the time of year. But that is all about to change.
Friday June 14
The weather should level out for the most part on Friday and clear, sunny skies will predominate, except in Galicia, the other Cantabrian regions and the Pyrenees, where the sky will be cloudy and light rain may occur. At the same time, there will be a risk of afternoon storms in Catalonia and in mountainous areas of the eastern half of Andalucía.
Even so, the mercury will continue to rise, exceeding 35ºC in Córdoba and Sevilla. The winds will blow from different directions and will be strong in the Empordà, the eastern half of the Cantabrian Sea and in the morning in the Strait area.
Saturday June 15
On Saturday, a front will move through the north of Spain, causing some heavy rain in the Galician community, the rest of the Cantabrian coast and the Pyrenees. Instability will prevail in the eastern third of the country, with the probability of showers, especially in mountainous areas.
In the rest of the country and in the Balearic Islands, the sky will remain partly cloudy or clear.
Daytime temperatures will continue to inch up, especially along the southern Mediterranean coast.
Sunday June 16
Most of Spain will be rather overcast on Sunday. There will be morning fogs on the coast of Cádiz, the southeast of Spain, the upper Ebro, Catalonia, the eastern half of the Cantabrian Sea and the north of Galicia. The sky will be partly cloudy in the Canary Islands.
Daytime temperatures will rise in central Spain, the Cantabrian regions and the Pyrenees, with southwest winds predominating. In the Canary Islands the trade winds will blow with some intensity.
