Temperatures take a tiny dip: Andalusia weather forecast Aug 5-11
ARCHIVED ARTICLE -
Several Andalucia regions remain on high alert for scorching temperatures in the 40s
Weather alerts on Tuesday August 6
It’s a game of two halves in Andalucia this week as the mercury promises to take a slight downward swing in parts while remaining sky-high in other municipalities. Overall, the week is set to be bright, sunny and extremely warm, and the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has once again activated several weather alerts.
Monday August 5
The worst of the heat on Monday will hit Cordoba, where an orange warning for temperatures approaching 40ºC has been put in place. Likewise, Granada, Jaén and Seville are under a yellow alert from lunch time. In contrast though, the heat will take a welcome breather in Cádiz, where a relatively cool high of 27ºC is forecast.
Tuesday August 6
After a cloudy start along the Mediterranean coast on Tuesday, the day should be mostly clear and bright. Cordoba remains on high alert for extreme temperatures but the thermometers should take another dip in much of western Andalucia.
Wednesday August 7
Mostly clear skies are expected on Wednesday, although there’s a good chance of some foggy intervals on the coasts. Few changes are expected temperature-wise, with Cordoba tipped to hit a sweltering 42ºC at the height of the day. Yellow alerts are in place in Granada, Jaén and Sevilla, where the mercury will hover between 38ºC and 40ºC.
Thursday August 8
It could be a little overcast and misty in coastal areas on Thursday but the rest of Andalucia can look forward to another bright and sunny day. Although many parts will still see 40ºC, all of the extreme heat alerts have been lifted for the time being.
Friday August 9
As we head into the weekend, the temperatures across Spain will rise in an almost general way, and in Granada the mercury will soar to 40ºC. It will be another mostly clear day with a chance of some fresh easterly breezy along the coast.
Saturday August 10 & Sunday August 11
We can expect very few changes over the weekend, with more mostly cloudless skies on the horizon. But after a brief little dip on Saturday, the thermometers will start to climb again on Sunday, reaching 42ºC in Cordoba and Granada.
