La Siesta Park boasts facilities for dozens of sports right in the heart of the Costa Blanca city
Torrevieja's Mayor Eduardo Dolón celebrated the grand opening of La Siesta Park at the weekend, an exciting inauguration that drew crowds of local residents, international expats and sports enthusiasts. The park, spanning an expansive 44,000 square metres and boasting a 5-million-euro investment, offers every kind of recreational amenity imaginable.
Situated between Calle Henri Matisse, Calle Ravel and Calle Guridi, La Siesta Park is now one of Torrevieja's premier recreational destinations. Notably, the entire park is enclosed with designated opening and closing hours, overseen by a team of seven municipal green workers and four janitors dedicated to its upkeep.
Surpassed only by the Aromatic Park in terms of size, La Siesta is the second-largest green area in the city. Designed as a versatile space, the park caters to sports enthusiasts with amenities such as paddle tennis courts, basketball and soccer courts, a hockey rink and a multisports court.
Responding to demand, the park offers an expanded area with 10 petanque courts. Additionally, bio-healthy exercise zones, an amphitheatre, and ample children's play areas, including a climbing wall, offer recreation for all ages.
A spacious plaza provides a vantage point to appreciate the park's entirety, while picnic areas and a forthcoming kiosk/bar offer opportunities for relaxation and refreshment. Accessible restroom facilities are conveniently located near key activity zones.
Pet owners will appreciate the designated dog area spanning more than 700 square metres, complete with an agility course. The park's crowning jewel, the expansive Pump track, spans more than 4,000 square metres and caters to riders of all skill levels, making it Spain's largest paved pump track.
All of these facilities are surrounded by some 300 trees, two walls of climbing vegetation, including bougainvillea, more than 2,000 square metres of planting area fed by sprinklers, almost 2,500 square metres of green areas with plantations of around 20,000 aromatic plants and shrubs.
