The biggest and most spectacular Christmas and Three Kings parades in the Costa Cálida

The full program of events over the festive season in the city of Murcia is far too extensive to be reproduced in full here (click here to see in it Spanish) but some of the highlights between now and 7^th January are the following:

Saturday December 16

11.00 to 14.00: Children’s workshops around the Christmas tree in the Plaza Circular. The same timetable is followed throughout the festive season.

12.00: The Discantus students’ choir in concert in the Plaza de Santo Domingo.

12.00: Cinderella in English in the Salón de los Espejos of the Teatro Romea.

13.00: Christmas Dance at the Christmas tree in the Plaza Circular.

17.00: More workshops around the Christmas tree in the Plaza Circular. The same timetable is followed throughout the festive season.

17.30: Father Christmas parades through the districts of San Antón and San Andrés, starting in Calle Abderramán II and ending in the Plaza Fremm.

19.00: Gospel choirs in the Plaza de los Apóstoles.

20.15: “Christmas Blues” concert in the Plaza Circular.

21.30: Wakame in concert at the Christmas market in La Glorieta.

Sunday December 17

9.30: Climbers set up the mountain nativity scene on the top of the Cresta del Gallo in the mountains of the regional park of El Valle.

10.00: “Siente la huerta” fun run in the countryside around Murcia.

10.00 to 14.00: Living nativity scene in the Plaza de Santo Domingo.

10.00: Guided tour of the nativity scenes of Murcia, including the Convento de Santa Clara, the Palacio Episcopal and the Belén de la Pava in the church of San Juan de Dios. Also taking place on December 23. Bookings at turismodemurcia@aldabacongresos.com.

10.30 to 13.00: Christmas choirs in the Plaza del Cardenal Belluga.

11.00 to 14.00: Children’s workshops around the Christmas tree in the Plaza Circular.

11.00: Art market in the Plaza de Santa Eulalia.

12.30: Disney show in the Glorieta de España.

20.00; The Benedictus choir at the Palacio Episcopal.

Monday December 18

10.00: Reconstruction of an Argaric nativity scene in the Bronze Age at the Museo Arqueológico de Murcia (running until January 7).

Wednesday December 20

12.00 to 14.00: Cooking for Christmas in the Plaza de Julián Romea.

20.15: Concert by the Agrupación Musical “Vocal Harmonist” in the Plaza Circular.

Thursday December 21

17.30: The choral concert of Jesuitinas in the Plaza Circular.

17.30: Discantus junior choir in the Plaza del Pilar.

19.00: The UCAM Youth Orchestra and the Discantus choir in the Plaza de Belluga.

Friday December 22

12.00: Opening of the nativity scene by Salzillo at the Town Hall of Murcia.

18.00: Father Christmas arrives and sets up his house in Calle Basabé.

Saturday December 23

11.00 to 13.30 and 17.00 to 20.00: Father Christmas welcomes children to his house in Calle Basabé.

12.00: The Three Kings arrive and are welcomed by the Mayor before greeting children in the Plaza de Belluga.

17.00: The Grand Three Kings parade in the centre of Murcia, one of the largest, most popular and most spectacular events of the year in the regional capital. Route: Avendia San Juan de la Cruz, Calle Mozart, Torre de Romo, Hermanos Cerón, Alameda de Colón, Plaza Camachos, Plaza Martínez Tornel, Gran Vía Salzillo, Avenida de la Constitución, Plaza Circular. Saturday January 6

Sunday January 7
