ARCHIVED - Unusually high temperatures for this time of year: Murcia weekend weather forecast Oct 20-23
ARCHIVED ARTICLE -
The Region of Murcia will have temperatures of up to 33ºC this weekend and into next week
This late October weekend, the Murcia Region will see temperatures more typical of spring and summer as the rains of last week give way to highs of up to 33ºC. It is thought that these will be some of the last warm and pleasant beach days of the year before the cold sets in once and for all.
This couldn’t be more different from the weather forecast in the rest of Spain. Fierce storms and unprecedented levels of rainfall have lashed the north and east of Spain this week, and will continue to do so over the weekend.
Down on the Costa Cálida, on the other hand, the probability of rain as forecast by the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) is exactly 0% until well into next week.
In Murcia and the surrounding area of the Vega del Segura, temperatures are forecast to exceed 30ºC, with the exception of Thursday October 20, when there will be high clouds and temperatures of around 29ºC. From Friday 21, the heat will return in full swing, reaching the highest maximum of the week, 33ºC.
At the weekend it will remain above 32ºC until the beginning of next week, according to Aemet. Meanwhile, the minimum temperatures, which will oscillate around 19ºC on Thursday, will fall over the next few days, dropping to 15ºC from Saturday October 22 onwards.
Temperatures will be somewhat different in Cartagena, where maximum temperatures are forecast to remain around 27 and 28ºC throughout the week. On Thursday, as in the rest of the municipalities, the skies will be overcast for practically the whole day. As for the minimum temperatures, they are expected to hover around 20ºC until the weekend, when they will drop a couple of degrees.
The Guadalentín Valley, Lorca and Águilas will experience a similar situation: only on Friday will the thermometers see a rise, reaching 30ºC. The rest of the days will be marked by 27 and 28ºC, dropping to 26ºC this Thursday. The minimum temperatures will decrease from the weekend onwards to 19ºC.
In the area of Caravaca de la Cruz and the whole of the northwest, maximum temperatures will rise to 31ºC over the weekend, while minimum temperatures will barely exceed 15ºC. In Jumilla and Yecla, the situation will be similar, according to the Aemet.
The coast, on the other hand, will not see 30ºC any day this week. The coastal towns of San Javier and Los Alcázares will remain at 27 and 28ºC until next week. As for the minimum temperatures, the Aemet forecasts that from Friday they will drop from 18ºC to 16ºC, a temperature that will mark the beginning of next week.
