Go to the beach in autumn? These are the best destinations in Spain to continue enjoying the sea for one last swim before winter comes
It's been a while since summer ended and autumn has arrived. The endless hours of sunshine give way to the reddish colours of the fallen leaves, but that doesn't mean we have to say goodbye to the beach and the sea if you're on the coast of Spain.
You still have the chance to go to the coast and enjoy a few last dips in the water. Spain's official tourism portal has found the ideal destinations for you to visit this autumn.
In these paradises on the shores of the Mediterranean, the Atlantic and the Cantabrian Sea, you will not only be able to relax, but they are also perfect for doing incredible things this autumn.
Take advantage of the last opportunity to enjoy a few days on the beach before you have to wait until next year!
The best beaches in Spain for surfing and diving
If you are one of those who enjoys catching waves, the best thing you can do this autumn is plan an excursion to the beaches of northern Spain.
In Galicia, Asturias, Cantabria and the Basque Country there are perfect places for you to get on your board and enjoy the wildness of the sea, such as the Playa de Los Locos beach in Suances, as well as the whole area of Zarautz or Mundaka, which are just some of the surfers' paradises on the Cantabrian coast.
If you want to combine all of this and, in addition to practising water sports, also want to relax by taking long walks along the shore, there is an ideal place for this: the Canary Islands.
The Atlantic archipelago has countless days of sunshine and the ocean temperature is not too low, so spending a few days in Tenerife or Gran Canaria is a great way to relax in autumn.
The best beaches in Spain for diving
The smallest of the Canary Islands is a true underwater paradise, so diving in the Atlantic waters around El Hierro is a great option for snorkelling and diving enthusiasts, as are the Balearic Islands and their Mediterranean waters.
However, if you don't want to fly to the archipelagos and prefer to stay on the Iberian Peninsula, one of the best destinations is on the Costa Brava, specifically in the marine reserve of the Medes Islands, a couple of hours north of Barcelona.
