Two mobile vaccination points will be set up prior to and during the annual Festes Majors Patronals in the Costa Blanca resort
The Valencia region's Ministry of Health is setting up two mobile Covid vaccination points in Benidorm to coincide with the annual Patron Saint Fiestas which take place from November 13 to 17.
So, to try to capitalise on an influx of potentially non-vaccinated residents and visitors to the town, they will be offered the chance to be immunised ahead of and during the fiestas.
The first vaccination point, at the Museu L'Hort de Colón (Hort de Colon Museum) in Calle Tomàs Ortuño opened today, Wednesday November 10, and will remain open every day including weekends until Monday November 15, from 11am to 5pm.
"This walk-in point has been set up in the heart of the town centre to facilitate the vaccination of those who, for whatever reason, have yet to be immunised. It has opened a few days before the fiestas to try to stagger the influx of people, and will be maintained during the central events," explained the Managing Director of the Department of Health Marina Baixa, Rosa Louis Cereceda.
From Tuesday November 16, the mobile vaccination team will move to Benidorm's Foreign Tourist Office in the Rincón de Loix area, the coastal resport's largest and busiest neighbourhood.
The opening hours will be the same as the Museu L'Hort de Colón, from 11am to 5pm.
"This second temporary vaccination point will remain open depending on demand. It is an area with a massive influx of people, especially foreigners, and we will keep it open for as many days as necessary depending on the response we get. The aim is to continue expanding the vaccination coverage against coronavirus," added Cereceda.
The placement of mobile teams to highly populated areas in Benidorm is one of a number of initiatives launched following the completion of mass immunisation in the 133 vaccination points across the Valencia region, including: vaccinations at music festivals such as Les Arts; sporting events (Martínez Valero, Mestalla, Ciutat de València and La Cerámica stadiums during league matches); large supermarkets (La Salera shopping centre in Castelló de la Plana); and walk-in centres on university campuses.
