Get ready for a soaking this weekend as the southern Spanish autonomous community of Andalucía will be waterlogged from Friday to Monday. In addition, coastal areas of the region are under yellow weather alerts for at least Thursday and Friday for heavy rains, strong winds and high waves, while the province of Almería is under an orange alert on Saturday February 10 for winds as strong as 60-75kmh and waves that could reach up to 7 metres high!
Faced with these blowy conditions, it is advised to remove any furniture from outside your home which could be blown about, such as chairs or flowerpots, and to be especially careful when walking near or under trees where there is a chance of branches falling. Take care on the roads, too, and definitely do not go swimming or sailing when the seas are so rough.
Andalucía weather warnings, Saturday February 10
It will be the evening of this Thursday February 8 when the rain begins to creep across Andalucía from the west, starting in Huelva and blowing across Seville and Cádiz to cover the whole region by the early hours of Friday morning, February 9.
On Friday, it will be raining all day to a greater or lesser degree, with the coasts of Huelva and Cádiz and the western part of the Costa del Sol getting the worst of it and the northern half of the region getting thunderstorms, including in Córdoba, Granada and Jaén. It will also be much colder, with temperatures both at night and during the day taking a nosedive of at least five degrees Celsius compared to what we’ve been having the last few days.
Andalucía weather forecast, Friday February 9
Saturday 10 is more of a mixed bag, with the sun poking through the clouds even as pretty much the whole of Andalucía is under showers. The colder weather hangs on and in the Sierra Nevada mountains, there will be snow.
Andalucía weather forecast, Saturday February 10
There’s a bit of a breather on the morning of Sunday 11 before the rain starts back up again in the afternoon and pelts down again all the way into Monday night, February 12. Everywhere, that is, except Almería, which will get off fairly lightly on Sunday and Monday.
After that, the storm will pass and temperatures should start to climb back up again.
